Gloucestershire County Cricket Club The Brightside Ground Nevil Road Brisrot BS7 9EJ Tel:01 l7 910 8000 March 2018 29 Fax:01 l7 974 ll93 Email: info@glosccc,co.uk gloscricket.co.uk Dear Resident Patron: The Earl Bathurst GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNTY CRICKET CLUB, BRISTOL : SEASON 2018 I hope this letter finds you well and enioying at least some hints of spring after all the snow of late. At this time of the year I wanted to update you on some of the highlights of the forthcoming season as well as providing details on floodlight usage etc. For your ease of reference, there is a First Xl / lnternational fixture list printed overleaf. Residents' Meeting: We will be hosting an early season meeting for local residents on Thursday 26 April at 7.00 pm in the Jessop Suite which is located on the ground floor of the Bristol Pavilion. t hope I will see many of you there. Floodlight usage: We currently have 6 First Xl matches confirmed as being played under lights in 20 18, one in May, one in June and 4 across July and early August. We also have 2 days of lnternational cricket which may involve the use of the lights. The first of these is an exciting double header on Thursday 28 June which sees the South Africa Women's side do battle against New Zealand Women before the evening match with New Zealand Women taking on current World Champions England. This should be an absolutely tremendous day of cricket and we hope many of you will be able to join us for all or part of the day. We then host England vs lndia (Men) in an lnternational T20 match on Sunday 8 July. This match has already sold out and we are expecting a capacity crowd of 15,000. The match is scheduled to be played in the afternoon so we're hoping floodlights won't be required but, as ever, the match officials like to have them ready and available should the natural light diminish. Should we qualify for the knockout stages of any tournament (dates also detailed overleaf) then lights may be required. We might also need them for top-up purposes during any other professional "day" match at the ground but as agreed with Bristol City Council we will not exceed l5 usages and envisage the number to be considerably less. "Major Matches": We anticipate that two fixtures will attract larger than average crowds; England vs lndia lT20 on 8 July and the Gloucestershire vs Somerset Vitality T20 derby match on l3 July. ln the build up to these events we will endeavour to keep disturbance to local residents to a minimum but would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused. On these match days, as a result of requests from residents and with the co-operation of the Police and local authority, we will once more introduce a traffic management scheme to allovr fq; access and egress of emergency vehicles and in an attempt to avoid traffic congestion on the roads surrounding the ground. ln order to facilitate this Nevil Road will be fully closed and stewarded with access being maintained for emertency services at all times in all parts of the street. The stewards will be briefed to allow access for local residents. ln conjunction with First Bus the Club is encouraging all spectators to use public transport and the Park and Ride facilities. Should you require any further information, or have any concerns, please contact the Club on 0l l7 910 8000.
