City of Laguna Niguel 2019 City of Laguna Niguel 2019 - 2020 Youth Committee Members Natalie Glennon (Chair) Natalie Glennon is a senior at Aliso Niguel High School where she writes and copy edits for the school newspaper. She also enjoys working and volunteering for the City of Laguna Niguel. Natalie has been on the planning committee for Together4Teens, an event focusing on mental health awareness in her school district. She is thrilled to be the sitting Chair of the Youth Committee and is looking forward to working with all the new members. Nick Drossel (Vice Chair) Nick Drossel is a junior at Dana Hills High School where he is involved in the California Scholarship Federation and the Associated Student Union. He is the Commissioner of Fine Arts Recognition and the Commissioner of Finance for the student government at Dana Hills. With the Youth Committee, Nick has helped advertise and expand the Pizza with Police program. Makayla Brown Makayla Brown is a high school senior studying violin at the Orange County School of the Arts. Aside from music, she is very involved in the STEM community at her school, being Co-President of the OCSA Science Olympiad team, having medaled first in Forensics and Chemistry Lab events and qualified for and competed in the States tournament. Courtney Bunge Courtney Bunge is currently a freshman at Dana Hills High School. Outside of school, she volunteers with Tech Tutors at Sea Country Senior and Community Center and tutors her peers at the library. City of Laguna Niguel 2019 - 2020 Youth Committee Members Lauren Chou Lauren Chou is a junior at Aliso Niguel High School. She is involved in Key Club, Leo Club, Red Cross, and UNIFCEF. She participates in various volunteer opportunities offered by each club. Lauren loves volunteering and giving back to the community and she is very excited to be a part of the Youth Committee so that she can give back even more. Emily Guilfoyle Emily Guilfoyle is a junior at Laguna Hills High School. She is a member of Model United Nations, and has received awards such as the Outstanding Delegate in Empowering Women Award. She also volunteers at the Laguna Niguel Library and tutors younger students with their homework. Bella Leibovitz Bella Leibovitz is currently a senior at Aliso Niguel High School. There, she is in the theatre company as an assistant stage manager. She is also involved in the Academic Decathlon where she competes in testing and speeches. Outside of school, Bella is a Recreation Leader with the City of Laguna Niguel, where she works closely with youth in camps and special events. Bella is excited to involve more children and teens in the community with activities and events. Skylar Neeve Skylar Neeve is a junior at Dana Hills High School. Zoe is excited to work on projects and make holiday events as magical as possible for the younger residents. City of Laguna Niguel 2019 - 2020 Youth Committee Members Andrew Nesson Andrew Nesson is currently a freshman at Dana Hills High School. He is excited to be a part of the committee so that he can work with other teens and represent the City of Laguna Niguel. Andrew is a member of the Baseball Performance Academy where he is a team captain and competes in the Junior Olympics. John Reid John Reid is a junior at Dana Hills High School where he is the President of the Junior Class. He also volunteers at the Laguna Niguel Library’s Homework Help program where he helps younger students with their studies. John wishes to pursue a career in astrophysics in the future. Kyle Wade Kyle Wade is a senior at Dana Hills High School. He is on his school’s robotics team and is a member of National Honors Society and California Scholarship Federation. While he tutors students in math and actively participates in community recycling events, he also loves playing the piano. Because of his affection for music, he was the innovator of our Songs for Seniors program. Smith is the second Gatorade California Volleyball Player of the Year to be chosen from Aliso Niguel High School. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Smith as California’s best high school volleyball player. Now a finalist for the prestigious Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year award to be announced in May, Smith joins an elite alumni association of state award-winners in 12 sports, including USA Volleyball players Kayla Banwarth (2006-07, Wahlert High School, Iowa), Alisha Glass (2005-06, Leland Public High School, Mich.), Jordan Larson (2004-05, Logan View High School, Neb.) and Foluke Akinradewo (2004-05, St. Thomas High School, Fla.). The 6-foot senior outside hitter averaged 5.7 kills and 3.7 digs per set along with a .331 hitting percentage, leading the Wolverines to a 5-0 record during a pandemic-shortened season. A returning First Team All-State honoree, she was named 2020 AAU Beach Volleyball Player of the Year after winning her third consecutive junior national title.
