NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer officially hit the track with the new DEKALB brand car earning the 13th spot. DEKALB served as the primary sponsor for Bowyer and the No. 14 team for the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway. The partnership with Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR), the championship-winning NASCAR team, was officially announced in late August on the opening day of the Farm Progress® Show by unveiling the new car inside the DEKALB® Asgrow® “Fuel Your Yield” tent. During the show, the DEKALB Asgrow brands also kicked off their annual “My Farm My Yield” harvest contest giving farmers the opportunity to share their DEKALB and Asgrow performance stories and a chance to win the grand prize custom-wrapped 2018 Kawasaki MULE PRO-FXR™ – with matching paint scheme of the No. 14 DEKALB brand car.     COLE CUSTER Gearing Up for Michigan Doubleheader KANNAPOLIS, North Carolina (Aug. 4, 2020) – This weekend, Cole Custer, driver of the No. 41 HaasTooling.com/Jacob Construction Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) and his fellow NASCAR Cup Series competitors head to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn for a doubleheader at the 2-mile track. The world’s best stock car drivers are scheduled to complete over 600 miles combined Saturday and Sunday in the backyard of manufacturer Ford, which is located approximately 65 miles northeast of the track in Dearborn. HaasTooling.com will share the No. 41 machine this weekend with Jacob Construction. Jacob adorned Custer’s Ford Mustang earlier this season at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. Jacob is a multifaceted firm with a focus on construction, development, design and technology services. Jacob provides clients with a wide range of services in the design build and construction management sectors of the construction industry. In conjunction with these services, Jacob self performs structural concrete, architectural and structural precast erection. So far this season, the Mustang has earned 11 wins for Ford. Custer and his SHR teammate Kevin Harvick have both earned wins for the Blue Oval this season. A win this weekend would be huge for Ford and SHR. Not only because it’s close to Ford headquarters, but this weekend’s events have a unique trophy. The Michigan Heritage Trophy was created in 2013 and is awarded to the winning manufacturer of each race. Custer heads into this weekend coming off of an eighth-place finish in last Sunday’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.

    MIKE SHIPLETT: Crew Chief, No. 41 Ford Mustang Birthdate: May 17, 1972 Birthplace: Amherst, Ohio Hometown: Amherst, Ohio Residence: Denver, North Carolina Spouse: Brooke When Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) promoted Cole Custer from its NASCAR Xfinity Series team to its flagship NASCAR Cup Series program for 2020, crew chief Mike Shiplett earned a promotion too. Shiplett has been a crew chief for more than 300 races across the Xfinity Series and Cup Series, and it was his 2019 season with Custer that proved to be his most productive. In Shiplett’s first year at SHR, he guided Custer to a career-high seven wins and six poles, with 17 top-five and 24 top-10 finishes and a total of 922 laps led. It was a breakout year for Custer, who entered 2019 after consecutive single-win seasons in 2017 and 2018. Shiplett came to SHR from Chip Ganassi Racing, where in 2018 he earned six Xfinity Series wins, steering Kyle Larson to four victories and a win apiece for Ross Chastain and John Hunter Nemechek. It was a standout year for the veteran crew chief, but it ended up being short lived when Ganassi’s Xfinity Series team was unexpectedly shut down before 2019 even began. But as the door to Ganassi closed, another opened at SHR, whereupon Shiplett’s pairing with Custer delivered almost immediately. The duo scored the first of their seven victories in just the third race of the season at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. Shiplett, now in his 12th year as a crew chief, built his racing career from the ground up.

(16) No. 42 Viva Vantage Chevrolet SS (Larson) McMurray Overcomes Early Setback to finish 11th at Sonoma In the first of two road course races on the 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season, Jamie McMurray looked to continue his streak of three straight top-10 finishes. McMurray, driving the Cessna Patriotic Chevrolet SS, overcame an early tire issue to narrowly miss the top-10 with an 11th-place finish in the Toyota/SaveMart 350. McMurray entered the weekend as the two-time defending pole winner for the race and hoped to be just the second driver to pull-off the hat-trick of three consecutive poles at Sonoma Raceway (Ricky Rudd won three in a row 1990-1992). Unfortunately McMurray was unable to transfer into the second round of qualifying on Saturday afternoon and settled for an 18th-place qualifying result. McMurray was able to pick-up positons in the early running before having to pit off sequence on lap 10 for a tire issue. The minor setback put the No. 1 Cessna Patriotic Chevy on a different pit strategy than several of the leaders, but the No. 1 team was able to take advantage of some cautions and close back up on the field. On the race’s final caution, crew chief Matt McCall, gambled on track positon and McMurray restarted second with just seven laps to go.
