The final quarter was a defensive battle, as neither team scored and the score held 42-7 in favor of the Owls. Because the Owls’ offense was effective all night, Kennesaw State’s first punt of the contest came with 56 seconds in the fourth quarter. KSU ended with 481 yards on the ground, while six different rushers recorded 50-plus yards. Joel Parker led the Kennesaw State defense with eight tackles.

The Owls look to put together back-to-back wins and will end their three-game road swing at Missouri State on Saturday (Sept. 21).

Foster ended with 127 yards on the ground with two scores and added 30 yards receiving. Daniel David finished 3-for-6 with 60 yards through the air and added a rushing touchdown.

“We had great blocking down the field tonight,” said Foster. “The funny thing about my touchdown run is, before the game, Bronson Rechsteiner told me that he had a vision that he was going to cut somebody and get up and block they safety for a touchdown run for me and that is exactly what he did. There was great blocking on the perimeter all night.

Kareem Taylor led the Owl defense with five total tackles, while Charlie Patrick recorded a trio.

The Owls are off on Oct. 5, but will be back in action at home Oct. 12 against Charleston Southern.

Shaq Terry found the end zone from six yards out to put the Owls on top 55-10 with 3:09 in the third quarter. The Owls defense was outstanding in the third quarter, as it allowed just 47 yards and forced three turnovers.

The fourth quarter was back-and-forth on both sides of the ball as neither team scored. The Owls ended the game on a grueling, 11 play drive that gobbled up 6 minutes and 28 seconds before ending the game.

The Owls return home to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on Oct. 26 against North Alabama.

Team Notes • Daniel David extended his streak to eight straight games with a rushing touchdown. • David has now rushed for multiple touchdowns in four games, finishing with three to tie his career- high. • The Owls recorded a season-high 490 yards on the ground, the fourth time this season KSU has rushed for more than 400 yards. • David finished the game with a career-high 111 rushing yards. • Kevin Ficklin recorded a career-high 80 rushing yards and two two touchdowns. • Freshman Jonathan Murphy made his first career appearance, finishing with 98 rushing yards and a touchdown. • The Owls recorded six rushing touchdowns, the fifth time this season they’ve recorded five or more on the ground. • KSU held UNA to 57 rushing yards, the sixth time this season the Owl defense has held a team to less than 100 yards on the ground. • Bryson Armstrong led the defense with 10 tackles, recording a career-high 2.5 tackles for loss. • Markeith Montgomery pulled down his second career interception. • The Owls held UNA scoreless in the second half, the second straight game, third of the season, a team has failed to score in the second half against KSU.
