Early Childhood Education: All 380 children who finished the FY19 school year as 4 year olds (in Head Start, Early Learn and PreK for All) successfully transitioned to Kindergarten. Foster Care: During FY 2019, 92 children and youth achieved permanency from our Foster Care programs: • 50 children returned to their birth families or relatives. • 28 children were adopted. • 14 children were placed with Kinship-Guardianship families. Preventive Services: Across our Preventive Services programs, foster care placement was averted for 100% of the 41 families whose cases closed during the previous year. Among those same families, reported child maltreatment was averted for 93%. 2018-2019 ANNUAL REPORT | Cardinal McCloskey Community Services 5 2018-2019 Highlights CHILDREN’S SERVICES DIVISION The Children’s Services Division continued to expand and provide innovative supports to the most vulnerable of children and families in New York City and Westchester County. The past year brought exciting endeavors including: The opening of a full service mental health clinic, The “McCloskey Cares” Clinic in the South Bronx, which provides robust clinical supports such as individual therapy and group therapy to area communities that have historically been underserved.
