Zum einen die Stadt, in der er aufwuchs - Seattle, das Heim von Grunge ebenso wie von Jimi Hendrix und zahlreichen Rap-Legenden. Und zum anderen die Hintergründe seines Aufwachsens - seine Eltern, schwer drogenabhängig, mussten das Sorgerecht an eine Tante abtreten, wo er mit Soul und Gospel in Berührung kam, während er draußen auf der Straße nur HipHop und harten Rock hörte.
