We are, first and foremost, focused on the safety of our employees and contractors around the world. It is important that we help our customers through this difficult time, and Amazonians are working around the clock to get necessary supplies delivered directly to the doorsteps of people and organizations who need them. Our Whole Foods Market stores have remained open, providing fresh food and other vital goods for customers. AMAZON EMPLOYEES RECEIVE comprehensive health benefits starting on day one of employment. We are working on building scalable testing for coronavirus. We’ve distributed face masks and implemented temperature checks at sites around the world to help protect employees and support staff, and offer free masks to our Whole Foods Market customers. We regularly sanitize door handles, stairway handrails, lockers, elevator buttons, and touch screens, and disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer are standard across our network. We also introduced extensive social distancing measures to help protect our associates. In all, we have made over 150 significant process changes in our operations network and Whole Foods Market stores, which we audit frequently, to help teams stay healthy. DURING THIS CRISIS, we’ve added 175,000 new jobs to help meet customer demand for essential products. -

All the more so considering that the online giant has had an uncertain relationship with M&A and has only in the recent years garnered the confidence to pull the trigger on large transactions. As a matter of fact, Amazon was an avid acquirer before the 2000s, when the dot.com bubble wiped out the value of Amazon’s external acquisitions and almost brought the company on the verge of bankruptcy. Cloud services use replication to ensure high availability. Within database replication, various copies of the same data item are stored in different sites, this situation requires managing the consistency of the multiple copies. In fact, the requirement for consistency level can be different according to application natures and other metrics; a delay of some minutes in visualizing latest posts in social networks can be tolerated, while some seconds can make a loss of a bid in an auction system. Wide variety of database management systems are used actually by cloud services, they support different levels of consistency to meet the diversity of needs. This paper draws a presentation of the main characteristics of cloud computing and data management systems and describes different consistency models. Then it discusses the most famous cloud-based database management systems from the point of view of their data and consistency models.
