Wine Tours in 2013 Creating fun and special experiences that will become lifelong memories . We are Matthew and Angela Saunders and we formed Taste du Languedoc Wine Tours in 2013. We’ve lived in the area for more than 25 years, and have a thriving wine bar and art gallery in a local village called Azille. Our passion for the area and knowledge of local wines led to customers requesting wine tasting events and Taste du Languedoc was born. By working closley with Melanie and Jay at Le Manoir & Th e Old Winery we would love to introduce you to our program of wine tours that you can book during your stay in beautiful Canet. There is something for everyone and we even offer special days and activities for your young one's ! Full Day Wine Tours ( from 100 euros per person) From our La Clape Seaside Wine & Gourmet Food Tour - our Carcassonne Castle Wine Tour we have 8 different tours to choose from each include, pick up / drop off, lunch and 2 / 3 domaine visits. For your children we have developed a special kids creative crafts day, Angela a professional arts workshop leader and an assistant will entertain and occupy the children at the accomodation whilst you enjoy your wine day ( this is at an additional cost so please ask for more details on pricing and activities) 2hr Wine Tasting & Tapas (45 euros per person) You may prefer to book a 2 hr Wine tasting at your accomodation, if this is your preference Matthew will come along to Le Manoir or The Old Winery and introduce you to the wines of the Minervois, pairing the wines with regional tapas. If you have smaller children this is a great social way of experiencing the wines of the region whilst the little one's play safely or are happi ly tucked up in bed ! At Taste du Languedoc Wine Tours, we specialize in experience. Both the experience, knowledge, and local connections that we have and also in the experience that each and every one of our guests has with us and we are delighted to work with Melanie & Jay to offer this to you. We strive to go beyond the typical dry lectures and pretentious wine tours and make it our mission to create fun and special experiences that will become lifelong memories for all the family! • CANAL DU MIDI BIKE 8 Night I WANT IT ALL 2021
DETOURS IN FRANCE www.detours-in-france.com CANAL DU MIDI BIKING EXPLORE FRANCE AT YOUR OWN PACE Day 1: Arrival in Toulouse Upon your arrival in Toulouse, settle in to your hotel and freshen up, and then take some time to explore this lovely city. The capital of both the French department, and the larger Midi-Pyrenees Region, Toulouse is also the heart of Europe’s aerospace industry, home of both France’s Airbus Company and also a great attraction park, the Cité de l’Espace. Its world renowned university is one of the oldest in Europe (founded in 1229), and it was already the capital of the Visigoth Kingdom in the 5th century! A city with unique architecture made of pinkish terracotta bricks, earning it the nickname la Ville Rose ("the Pink City"), Toulouse counts two UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Canal Du Midi, and the Basilica of St. Sernin, which lies on the Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage route. Day 2: Toulouse to Castelnaudary 66 Km / 41 Miles You have a long, but easygoing ride today, as it is very flat, and almost completely on lovely, paved bike path. Pass your first locks and canal projects on route to the small town of Castelnaudary, built on the foundations of the original Roman town. It is hard to imagine the centuries of warfare incurred here, as you wander the lovely small streets, eventually loved by Catherine de Medicis, when, as King Henri II’s wife, she becomes Countess of the region. The port here is developed as one of the main stops for barges on the Canal du Midi’s route, with a large (7 hectare) water basin.

DE22 1GB [email protected] Abstract The Pyrenees are a young mountain belt formed as part of the larger Alpine collision zone. This excursion explores the development of the Pyrenean Mountain Belt in southern France, from its early extensional phase in the mid-Cretaceous and subsequent collisional phase, through its uplift and erosion in the Late Cretaceous and again in the Eocene, which led to the development of the Aquitaine-Languedoc foreland basin. One of the complexities of the Pyrenean Belt is that thrusting, uplift and erosion during the Pyrenean orogeny exposed older Variscan basement rocks in the central core of the mountains, rocks which were metamorphosed during an earlier event in the late Carboniferous. Thus, this orogenic belt also tells the story of an earlier collision between Laurussia in the north and Gondwana in the south at ca 300 Ma, prior to the onset of the Pyrenean events at ca.

  • A Wonderful Cruise Down the ‘Platane’ Lined Canal Du Midi Unesco World Heritage Site
I have been a practicing Francophile for over 30 years now. If only to persuade you to read on, let me reassure you that, as a Francophile, I am passionate about France and “things French” - be reassured that I have no abnormal feelings about ex Spanish dictators. I am also a canalaholic. These two admissions explain why my wife, Lesley, and I arrived in Calais on our barge, in October 1988, having left our “comfortable lives” in the City and our mooring on the Grand Union canal at Tring. For at least ten years prior to our arrival in France we had holidayed in France and on the canals. A wonderful cruise down the ‘platane’ lined Canal du Midi Unesco World Heritage site. Built by Pierre-Paul Riquet in the 17th century TEX T AND PHO T OGRA P HS MIKE GARDNER ROBER T S The vacation has become a vocation We loved the Midi. Steeped in history, bathed in sunshine So when we went through the sea-lock and on to the inland and with the Mediterranean beaches a stones-throw away, waterways it was the start of the realisation of our dream; it is a wonderful place to live. The entire Canal du Midi is our dream to take our own boat, our floating home, all the a UNESCO world heritage site. Built during the reign of way through French canal network from Calais to the Med. Louis XIV, in the 17th Century, by Pierre-Paul Riquet, it Initially, this dream was to be a sabbatical lasting a year.
