With the addition of four goals and two assists by Josh Byrne in his debut this past weekend, the Bayhawks tallied a total 24 points to defeat the Denver Outlaws for a final score of 24-22. The Bayhawks broke an MLL record in the third quarter, combining for a total of 13 points with six points coming off of three two-point goals scored by Matt Rees, Myles Jones and Ryan Tucker. The previous MLL record for points accumulated in a quarter by one team was 12. The contribution of goals from Jones, Byrne, Stanwick, Maloney, Tucker and long stick players Costabile and Rees are something that needs to be continued this game against the Boston Cannons. Boston heads into this game 1-4 and is seeking a win, while changing their home venue from Harvard Stadium to Hingham High School promoting “Cannons in Your Community.” Join the Bayhawks play on the road against the Boston Cannons at Hingham High School in Hingham, MA at 6:00pm EST. Games will be replayed on NBC Sports Washington Sunday, May 20th at 3:30pm and Monday, May 21st at 12:00pm. Check your local listings for details. Watch the Bayhawks play on the road against the Denver Outlaws at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado on Sunday evening at 5:00pm EST. Games will be replayed on NBC Sports Washington on May 14th at 12:00pm EST, May 14th at 8:00pm EST, and May 16th at 8:30pm EST. HEADLINE: Byrne and Stanwick Seal the Deal For many Bayhawk fans, the return of Josh Byrne has been long awaited, but the wait is over and Byrne proved why he earned Rookie of the Year last season, during his season opener. Josh tallied a total of four goals and two assists to amass a total of six points. The past season he played nine games with a season total of 39 goals and seven assists earning him the title of Rookie of the Year. Steele Stanwick’s return also played a huge role in the Bayhawks’ win against Denver with a total of five goals and one assist. His presence proved critical in the third quarter to give Chesapeake the lead. With Josh and Steele back in the lineup, the Bayhawks offense has seen an impact, and will hopefully continue to do so throughout the rest of the season. The Bayhawks still are waiting the return of Lyle Thompson to complete the team for the 2018 MLL season. Every fan should stand up and shout on June 2nd when the team is back together at home playing against the Ohio Machine at 6:00pm at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. This game will feature a double header with the inaugural Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) game that faces off at 4:00pm between the Baltimore Brave and the Philadelphia Fire. 5 2018 STANDINGS TEAM WIN LOSS GAMES BEHIND Charlotte 4 0 - Atlanta 3 1 1 Dallas 3 2 1.5 Ohio 2 1 1.5 Chesapeake 2 2 2 Florida 2 2 2 New York 1 3 3 Denver 1 4 3.5 Boston 1 4 3.5 2018 GAME-BY-GAME RESULTS GAME DATE OPP. Chesapeake Bayhawks Beat Denver Outlaws 14-13 Posted by TBN On 05/08/2011 Annapolis, MD. - The Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) hosted the Denver Outlaws in a tightly contested pre-season game Saturday evening at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD. After trailing the entire game, the Bayhawks scored two goals in the final minute to complete the come back and win 14-13. The Bayhawks were led by Blake Miller’s three goal effort which included the game tying goal.“It was a great team effort tonight,” said Bayhawks Head Coach Brendan Kelly following the victory. “I was happy to see how we came out in the second half. Everybody really came together and we jelled as a team. Just a really great effort.” The Outlaws opened the game drawing first blood in the early minutes. The Bayhawks responded with their first goal from Midfielder Michael Kimmel, but Denver countered with three straight goals to take a 4-1 lead. Chesapeake cut the lead in half with the first of Miller’s three goals to close out the first quarter trailing 4-2. Miller continued to keep the Bayhawks in the game with his second goal early in the second frame. The half closed with a goal from Kimmel in the final five seconds to bring the game to 8-5. Chesapeake continued to chip away in the third quarter, closing the score to 10-9.
