ROME UPDATE 1.1 International Women’s Day Prayer (March 8): A prayer service, prepared by the JPIC Anti-Trafficking Working Group, is now available in 13 languages: English, Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Rumanian, German, Japanese, Albanian, Korean, Russian Dutch and Ukrainian. Additional languages will be added to the wiki space as they become available at: http://jpicformation.wikispaces.com/EN_8March 1.2 Fairtrade Lent Campaign: The Fairtrade working group has launched a campaign to encourage religious around the word to consider purchasing Fairtrade products and/or support local initiatives in favour of the poor. Please encourage your membership to become involved. To this end the group have adapted the Resource Booklet to suit an international audience, now available in 4 languages (English, Spanish, French and Italian) at: http://jpicformation.wikispaces.com/EN_fairtrade 1.3 /JPIC project: Vatican Radio is interested in making short programmes on JPIC issues. They are willing to interview JPIC Promoters and other religious with a story to tell or a message to share. They will make the interviews available on a CD to JPIC promoter’s for ongoing formation purposes. Camilo Maccise, former General of the and former President of the USG will give two talks on March 27 from 9.00 to 12.30 at the Fratelli Cristiani. The themes are: ‘passion for Christ, passion for humanity: 5 years later’ and ‘Moving towards a prophetic Religious Life today’. Romero Celebrations: A series of celebrations will take place for the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Mons. Romero. objective was to find ways to collaborate on specific JPIC issues, such as Development and Cooperation, Environment, Education, Human Rights, Family, Health and Human mobility. Cooperation and collaboration is the ideal, but it is clear it will not be easily achieved. Many of those present are already networking. A content of CD with extracts from interventions of Benedict XVI (in English, Spanish, French and Italian) and the on international questions is temporarily available on-line at: http://jpicformation.wikispaces.com/EN_CST 1.7 Alternative Economies: A presentation on Alternative Economic Approaches given by Seamus Finn OMI, to the Rome-based JPIC promoters, is available at: http://jpicformation.wikispaces.com/EN_Economic_Justice, with an excerpt from minutes related to that meeting. 1.8 UISG Tri-Annual Assembly: Between 700 and 800 Superiors General are expected to arrive in Rome from May 8 – 11, 2010. A formal address will be made on the JPIC Commission and JPIC animation in general. There will be an opportunity for JPIC Working Groups and Promoters to informally engage with Assembly attendees through a JPIC desk during this event. JPIC Promoters and Working groups are invited to think about making resource materials and ideas available to the Superiors, and to coordinate a presence at the desk during coffee breaks.
