Objections to the grant of the licences should be made to the address below within 30 days of the date of this Notice. The Minister reserves the right to make details of the objections available to the applicant in order to fully consider their validity. NB: A prospecting licence entitles the holder to explore for mineral deposits and does not authorise mining of any minerals. The activities permissible under a licence are, in general, non-invasive and of minimal environmental impact. The Minister has assessed the exploration programme proposed by the company and has determined that the activities are not likely to have a significant effect on the environment. (01) 678 2668 Email: [email protected] Ref: M.A. 320/6 Date: 18th June 2019 Decision on Specific Prospecting Activities The Minister has assessed the exploration project proposed by the company and has determined that the activities are not likely to have a significant effect on the environment and proposes to grant the following Prospecting Licences (PLs). 1640, 2474, 2627, 2748, 3322, 3662, 3674, 4065, 4066 and 4067 PL Area Under Application (Co. Laois). Company Raptor Resources Ltd Mineral exploration including: Geological mapping, prospecting, Activity geochemistry and geophysical surveys. Drilling may be undertaken, if warranted by the results of exploration. Geological mapping, prospecting, geochemistry and geophysical surveys are temporary activities involving minimal disturbance. These activities are not likely to have a significant effect on the environment. Any proposed drilling will have to comply with the Department’s guidelines and protocols. All drilling activities will require additional environmental screening, in advance of the Department authorising Environmental them. Considerations Additional environmental screening will also be undertaken in the event that the company plans to carry out any activity within a Natural Heritage Area (e.g. Clonreher Bog NHA (Site Code 002357), Slieve Bloom Mountains pNHA (000412), Emo Court pNHA (000865), Derries Wood pNHA (000416), Timahoe Esker pNHA (000421), Ridge of Portlaoise pNHA (000876) and The Great Heath of Portlaoise pNHA (000881)). River Barrow and River Nore SAC (Site Code 002162), Slieve Bloom Mountains SPA (Site Code 004160), Slieve Bloom Mountains SAC (Site Code 000412), Mountmellick SAC (Site Code 002141). European Sites A screening for Appropriate Assessment has been carried out for the project. Particular attention has been paid to the European Sites listed above. It has been determined that the project does not have the potential for significant effects on a European Site. 1.
