Missing are Trustees Allison Pelletier and Student Trustee Mia Audia-Gagnon. MARATHON – The Superior-Greenstone District School Board held its 2017 Annual Organizational and Regular Board Meeting on Monday, December 5, 2016. Trustee Pinky McRae was acclaimed as 2017 Board Chair, while Trustee Kim Figliomeni was elected to the office of Board Vice-Chair. Returning members are Michael Groulx (Red Rock, Dorion, Hurkett), Aaron MacGregor (Manitouwadge), Mark Mannisto (Greenstone), Allison Pelletier (Greenstone), (Margaret McIntyre (Marathon), Stanley Sabourin (First Nation Trustee), Marlo Sarrasin (Nipigon) and Student Trustee Mia Audia-Gagnon. Together this group will represent their constituents and work with Superior-Greenstone DSB Senior Administration in the delivery of quality education for students. Upon assuming the role of Chair, McRae thanked the Board and expressed her gratitude for her fellow trustee’s support. She complemented the Board on their strong ability to work well together as a team and with Senior Administration. She stated that, “it is important that we continue working well together so that we can continue to achieve the strategic goals of the Board.” Town Hall Meetings - What do you envision for your school 5 years from now? Director of Education David Tamblyn will be visiting schools and meeting with staff to hear their views on what they envision for their school/board five years from now? He will also be meeting with stakeholders including the student senate, the parent involvement committee, native education advisory committee and the special education advisory committee.

DEPUTATION Melanie Depue presented to Council her concerns with the tax rate for Rural Property Owners. She elaborated on her property taxes over the past 15 years and the rising cost they’ve experienced. A possible capping on the property tax was mentioned, or possibly a different tax rate for rural properties. Council will take the information into consideration. They thanked Mrs. Depue and asked for a copy of her presentation to Council. The CAO will respond with a letter. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS COUNCIL MEETING The minutes of the October 7, 2019 regular meeting of Council were approved as presented.     MUNICIPALITY OF TWEED 2017 GALLERY OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS TWEED PUBLIC LIBRARY The Tweed Public Library has had a very busy year! Our TD summer reading program was a great success with over 300 participants spread out across the 8 weeks of the program. We capped off the summer reading program with a well-attended magic show. In August the library was chosen by the Canada Post Community Foundation to receive a grant for $500 dollars, we used this money to launch our Building Imagination Lego Club. There were over 20 excited children in attendance for our first meeting in November. We have also held information seminars for the general public on topics such as estate planning and fraud prevention, as well as holding our weekly knitting group and monthly quilting groups which are quite popular. BLACK RIVER TRADING COMPANY ADDITIONALLY, WE HAVE RECENTLY ADDED A LOT OF INTERESTINGLY CARVED FURNITURE TO OUR OFFERING. This year we brought in a tremendous pile of pottery from Malaysia and Vietnam, put together a lot of shelving upon which to display it and redid the pottery section of the website. We know who and where the largest pottery outlets are in Ontario and we can now confidently say we have a more diverse and larger collection than anyone else in Ontario, and, by extension, (Ontario being the largest population base in Canada) we think we likely have the best and largest pottery offering in Canada. We have had the most extensive collection of sculpture in Canada for years and one of our goals has been to be able to add interestingly carved furniture to that "best collection you'll find" list.

    SECTION 5.0 EXISTING ENVIRONMENT MARATHON PGM-CU PROJECT Environmental Impact Statement – Main Report 5.0 EXISTING ENVIRONMENT This section provides a summary of existing physical, biological and socio-environment baseline conditions as it relates to the proposed SCI Marathon PGM Copper Project. 5.1 Geology Detailed information regarding regional and deposit geology, host material geochemistry and seismicity are provided by EcoMetrix (2012b, 2012d, 2012e) and MICON (2010). The following sections provide a summary of this information. 5.1.1 Work Scope The geology within the study area is described in terms of the following components: geological components of the region and deposit; regional seismicity; mine material investigations; and, characterization of overburden, mine rock, and Type 1 (low-sulphur) and Type 2 (high- sulphur) process solids in terms of acid rock drainage and metal leaching potential. Predicted pit water quality post-mine closure and the filling of the pits is also described in this section. 5.1.2 Regional Geology The Marathon PGM-Cu deposit is hosted within the Eastern Gabbro Series of the Proterozoic Coldwell Complex, which intrudes and bisects the much older Archean Schreiber-Hemlo Greenstone Belt. The sub-circular complex has a diameter of 25 km and a surface area of 580 km2 and is the largest alkaline intrusive complex in North America (Walker et al., 1993a). The Coldwell Complex was emplaced as three nested intrusive centres (Centres I, II and III) (Mitchell and Platt, 1982) that were active during cauldron subsidence near where the northern end of the Thiel Fault intersected Archean rocks, on the north shore of Lake Superior (Figure 5.1-1).
