ACKNOWLEDGMENTS 28 Introduction A parish plan such as Frilsham Future outlines the needs and aspirations of a community. Identifying them usually prompts the motivation and support required to bring those positive changes into effect. For West Berkshire Council, parish plans are important key documents, ones that drive their policies, strategies and work programmes. When a plan is endorsed by the council and its public sector partner agencies, it opens the door for parishes to obtain grants to fund projects within their plan. In this way it is hoped that communities throughout West Berkshire will be encouraged to review their needs and priorities then address them proactively. Essentially the Parish Plan is Frilsham’s voice, a way to:
influence councils ● stimulate action ● attract funding
Frilsham Future was developed from a series of consultations to assess the views of this local community. The Plan embraces every aspect of rural village life - heritage, people, sense of community, history and natural beauty. The priority throughout the planning process has been to “meet the needs of the community and enhance village life”.
