Amando M. Tetangco, Jr. assumed office as Governor of the BangkoSentralngPilipinas in July 2005. He is a career central banker, occupying different positions in the organization in a span of over three decades. Immediately prior to his appointment as BSP Governor, he was Deputy Governor in-charge of the Banking Services Sector, Economic Research and Treasury.
As BSP Governor, he is also the Chairman of the Monetary Board, Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) and Philippine International Convention Center (PICC); Vice-Chairman of the Agriculture Credit Policy Council (ACPC); Member of the Capital Market Development Council (CMDC), Export Development Council (EDC), PhilExport Board of Trustees (PHILEXPORT), Philippine Export-Import Credit Agency (PHILEXIM); and Director of Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC), National Development Council (NDC) and National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC).
He also represents the country in various international and regional organizations, including the Executive Meeting of East Asia and Pacific (EMEAP) Central Banks; ASEAN and ASEAN+3; South East Asia Central Banks (SEACEN); South East Asia, New Zealand and Australia (SEANZA); Center for Latin American Monetary Studies (CEMLA); and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC). He is the Governor for the Philippines in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Alternate Governor in the World Bank (WB) and in the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Before joining the Central Bank of the Philippines in 1974, Mr.Tetangco was connected with the Management Services Division of accounting firm SGV & Co.
Mr.Tetangco took up AB Economics at the Ateneo de Manila University where he graduated cum laude. He took up graduate courses in business administration in the same institution. As a central bank scholar, Mr.Tetangco took up his MA in Public Policy and Administration (concentration in Development Economics) at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, USA. Earlier, he finished his elementary and high school education at Don Bosco Academy in Pampanga.
Mr.Tetangco is married to Elvira Ma. Plana. They have three children: a son and two daughters.
Jose A. Nuñez, Jr. Board Member Chairman, Development Bank of the Philippines
Chairman Nuñez has built an extensive career in banking and business management. He was previously chairman of Asian Express Money Services Corporation,a company engaged in foreign exchange dealership, money changing and global remittance services. He was also former director and treasurer of Tranzen Group, Inc, Universal LRT Corp. Ltd. and ULCOM Company Inc. He was also a former director of Philippine Veterans Bank, serving as Chairman of its board credit committee, and member of the executive and corporate governance committees.
He also served as Director of Camp John Hay Development Corporation, Northwood Resources Corporation, Citystate Savings Bank and Goldenville Holdings Corporation.
He was Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Federal Savings and Mortgage Bank from 1997-2000 until its merger with Security Bank Corporation; and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Premiere Development Bank from 1982-1986 and 1989-1991. He was also affiliated with Allied Banking Corporation and Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation.
At present, Chairman Nuñez is a director and the treasurer of La Costa Development Corp., Agus 3 Hydropower Corp., and Bukidnon Hydro Electric Corp.
Chairman Nuñez has a Bachelor of Arts major in Economics degree (Honors Program) from Xavier University, and is a candidate for a Masters in Business Administration degree from the Ateneo de Manila University.
CECILIA C. BORROMEO Vice Chairman l President and Chief Executive Officer
President Borromeo brings a wealth of experience in banking and management from Land Bank of the Philippines (Land Bank) to her new post in DBP. She started her banking career in Land Bank in 1989 and rose through the ranks to serve as Officer In Charge from August 1, 2016 to November 10, 2016.
She previously served as Executive Vice President of the Agricultural and Development Lending Sector of LBP where she managed the delivery of financial services for farmer organizations, MSMEs, local government units, GOCCs, corporations, other financial institutions, and consumer clients. She also performed oversight functions over LBP Insurance Brokerage, LBP Leasing Corporation, and Masaganang Sakahan, Inc. She also supervised the treasury, investment banking and global banking operations as EVP of LBP Institutional Banking Sector.
Borromeo obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness from the University of the Philippines, and underwent the Master of Business Administration program of the De La Salle Business School. She is a graduate of the Advanced Bank Management Program of the Asian Institute of Management and the Pacific Rim Bankers Program of the University of Washington Executive Education Foster School of Business. She likewise attended the International Study on Rural Banking and Finance at the Massey University in New Zealand.
