Homeless Dog Adopts a Couple Jessica Wisloski and Mike Comeau of Brooklyn, N.Y., wanted a dog, but it couldn't just be a snap decision. They wanted to get a breed that didn't trigger Comeau's allergies. Their research showed that a border ter- rier was supposed to be better for people with allergies, Wisloski says, and it "made sense size-wise since we live in an apartment … The best part was they apparently acted more like a big breed than a small breed." They had some other requirements: older, female, housebroken and a shelter dog. ostost They entered their search criteria on Petfinder.com, the largest online t thethehe m m database of homeless pets and began browsing. It wasn't so much them taking her on, but Annie, as they renamed her, taking them on. It was she who taught them the way it was going to be. "She makes sure we don't spend the day glued to a computer screen," Wisloski says, "lives for her walks and meals, and most of all, gives us the very therapeutic belly rubs (on her!) that help us calm down from a stress- .. ful day." it on.
