Women's Leadership Program LEADERSHIP BOOK REPORT

Objectives:

 Enhance your leadership development by reading one leadership book that will support your professional development plan  Develop an executive summary of the book to share with the participants in the program (see template on page 4)  Present an overview of the leadership book and how one can apply the principles in one’s role as a leader  Practice giving and receiving effective feedback by o Giving written feedback to your colleagues on their presentations o Receiving feedback on your presentation from program colleagues

Logistics:

 Please review the list of leadership books below and choose up to three book selections and your top three presentation dates. If would like to read and report on a book that is not included in the list, please notify Robina Bhasin to request permission. Please select up to three of the books (but you will only be assigned one) and your top three presentation dates.  Please submit both your book and date preferences to Tammy Lo ([email protected]) by Friday, August 5th. You will receive an email with each person’s assigned book and date by Friday, August 12th.  After reading your book, please prepare a presentation that includes 4 minutes on the book’s key points, 4 minutes on what you will practice or implement having read the book, and 2 minutes of Q&A. Please also prepare a 1-page written executive summary using the template on page 4. Please bring copies of your written summary for all Women’s Leadership Program participants on the date of your presentation. In addition, please email your summary to Robina Bhasin, who will distribute a compilation of the summaries at the end of the program.  Lastly, you will be asked to provide feedback to approximately half of your peers following their book report presentations using the template below. Please return your peer feedback to Robina directly following the presentation. A schedule for feedback assignments will be distributed along with the book and date assignments.
