The Newsletter of the Sport Shooting Foundation® Volume III, 2001 GLOCK Introduces Commemorative GSSF G17!

The GSSF Engraved Commemorative GLOCK InsideInside s long time GSSF members know (and Commemorative Anew members, too, if you’ve been keeping GSSF G17 page 1 up!), this year marks the 10th Anniversary of the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation. And what years they have been! We’ve had 50,000+ GSSF League Results/ people involved over the years with the Schedule page 2 program, thousands shooting safely every year. GSSF has grown from a handful of matches per Match Results year, to a recognized shooting “discipline,” with pages 5-9 over two dozen matches a year, people from GLOCK Wins other countries involved, and competitors of all at USPSA pages 10-11 descriptions participating. All of this has made all of us at GLOCK very pleased and grateful for our customers. To commemorate this year, GLOCK has manufactured a G17 with a rarely seen “extra” Double Champion for on GLOCK pistols: engraving. That’s right, as the highlighted (artificially enhanced) the 21st Century photographs show, this G17 is specially marked.* pages 11-12 That’s the good news. The little bit of bad news is that this was a limited production run, with Member’s Corner serial numbers beginning with “GSSF.” So, if pages 13-17 you’re interested in a piece of shooting history, get your order form in now! There is a special price of www.gssfonline.com only $398.00 US. Thanks again for your loyalty and support. See Page 3 for Order Information. *The pistol engraving is artificially enhanced to show detail.

In Memory of September11, 2001; “Remember, Do Not Forget.” n September 11th of this year, GLOCK employees around the world were first horrified, Othen deeply angered over the attacks on the United States. Truly, this day “the world changed.” As this goes to press, recovery and reconstruction work continue, and the United States Armed Forces and our allies are seeking and bringing to justice those responsible, and those who would assist evil. WIN A We would like to note here with sadness, but also pride, that one GSSF member made the GLOCK! ultimate sacrifice for his fellow citizens. New York City Police Officer Jerome Dominguez See Page 18 responded to the World Trade Center with hundreds of other emergency services personnel the morning of September 11th. He did not return. Your thoughts and prayers are requested for him, his fellow responders, the victims themselves and their loved ones.

There are no alibi’s for gun malfunctions, and every second counts. To do well here, you need a reliable, accurate gun. As you might expect, for many shooters, that gun is a GLOCK! Knock-down steel targets, moving targets, disappearing targets, and targets as far away as 40 yards tested the competitors’ skills. The physical challenges involved negotiating false-fronted buildings, plywood cars, lawn chairs, haybales, even a bed! All shooting is done outdoors, rain or shine, putting even greater demands on the shooter and their equipment. This year’s match involved 20 stages, consuming more than 300 rounds. GLOCK has been a part of practical shooting for years and is a big supporter of both Limited Division and the new Production Division (where only out-of- the-box double-action and safe-action may be used). GSSF shooter David Sevigny won USPSA’s new “Production Division” outright with his G34. Sharon Zaffiro from GLOCK,Inc. took high lady in Production, and seventh lady overall in the main match—a grand achievement given the “Production Division’s” strict requirements. (Zaffiro was competing with a stock G34, 10-round magazines, and lower-scoring ammunition against women with custom guns and high-capacity magazines carrying up to 20 rounds each!) Debbie Ross used her custom G35 to place sixth in the main match. GSSF Benefit/Demo: GSSF had planned to run a demonstration match conjointly with the USPSA nationals as part of a promotional effort. Following the tragedy of Sept. 11, USPSA’s match was nearly canceled. When the decision to proceed was made, GSSF coordinators Chris Edwards and Scott Gilbertson converted their demonstration match into a benefit match for the families of police and firefighters who lost their lives in the World Trade Center. USPSA shooters queued up to help bereaved New Yorkers, and experienced GSSF shooting at the same time.
