SONIA DELROSE NORONHA ASSISTANT PROFESSOR CMC SRINIVAS UNIVERSITY PORT EXHIBITION: An Exhibition on ‘Ports and Marine Recreation’ was organised by the BBA (Port, Shipping Management and Logistics) Department of Srinivas College of Management and College on 04.03.2020, wherein students of B.B.A(Port. Sipping Management & Logistics) showcased static and working models, charts and posters which can used to study various Marine related concepts. The objective was to inculcate innovation and research related creative attitude among the students. Dr. P.S. Aithal, Vice- Chancellor, Srinivas University inaugurated the exhibition. Faculties and students from different disciplines across Srinivas college of Management and Commerce attended the exhibition and encouraged the students. They had chosen the topic “Ports and Marine Recreation”. Dr. Sonia Noronha took the initiative of encouraging the students to put such a wonderful and enlightening exhibition. Based on the Judging done by Prof. Pradeep M.D, Department of Social Sciences, Srinivas University and Prof. Sripathi Rangabhatta, Department of Management, first place was bagged by Mr. Muhammed Siraj and Team, Second place by Mr. Sulthan Sabeel and team and the third Place by Mr. Vishnu and team. INDUSTRIAL VISIT: PILIKULA NISARGADHAMA: An Industrial visit to Pilikula Nisargadhama Mudushedde Post, Mangalore, was organized by the Department of BBA (Port, Shipping Management and Logistics) for First year students on Wednesday, 25th September 2019. Students and three faculties visited Pilikula Nisargadhama, which helped them to understand current scenarios in the environment, and also knowing about our planetarium system, etc. In this visit, students were very eagerly waiting for listening to industrial higher authorities. SEA PORT VISIT: A Port visit to New Mangalore Port Trust Panambur Mangalore, Karnataka was organized for Second year students on Tuesday, 22 October 2019.This visit helped them to understand current scenarios in sea port, and also knowing about the sea port system, etc. In this visit, students were very eagerly waiting for listening to sea port higher authorities. Students were guided towards terminal points, Docs and MTC room (Marine traffic control room). Brief introduction was given about how MTC works FOOD INDUSTRY VISIT: An Industrial visit to Ace Food Pvt Ltd yeyyadi, Karnataka was organized by the BBA Department (Port, Shipping Management & logistics) of Srinivas University for second year students on Wednesday, 16th October 2019. The team of sixty-five and two faculties visited Ace Pvt ltd (Modern chips), which helped them to understand current scenarios in the market, and also knowing about industrial product manufacturing, etc. The Regional Head conducted a very informative session for the students. He also guided the students towards Packing sections and gave a brief introduction of packing process. NSS ACTIVITIES: DENTAL & ORAL HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM: Dental & Oral Health Awareness program was organized for the Port, Shipping Management & Logistics students on 18 July 2019 at Pandeshwar, City Campus under its Social Service and NSS unit. Dr. Kripal and Dr. Apoorva Kamath of Srinivas College of Dental Science delivered a lecture on importance of Dental & Oral Health, and also conducted Dental check for the students. SWATCH BHARATH- CLEANLINESS DRIVE: On 13th Jan 2020 BBA (Port, Shipping Management & logistics) Conducted Swatch Bharat drive under its Social Service and NSS wing for creating awareness among the public. Second year students took the initiative to clean the surrounding of the College. Prof. Jayaprakasha.K, the faculty member coordinated the program. Other faculties from the department helped in organizing the drive. CLEANLINESS DRIVE PROGRAM: On 12th March 2020 BBA Port Management students conducted cleaning drive in Pandeshwar City campus Premises under its NSS and Social Service wing. The students of First year BBA Port, Shipping Management & Logistics took the initiative to clean the surrounding of the College. The program held under the guidance of Prof. Mrs. Sonia Delrose Noronha, Course coordinator BBA Port Management. Prof. Jayaprakasha.K, the faculty member coordinated the program. CULTURAL EVENTS: FRESHERS’ DAY: Department of BBA organised a Freshers’ Day “Neo-Fiesta 2K19” on 6th August 2019. The purpose of the Freshers Day was to make every new student feel connected as an integral part of the BBA Family. The celebration started at 10.30 am at SIMS Auditorium with the opening prayer. As a trend of the institution, the program began with the auspicious lamp lighting ceremony. The occasion was graced by the presence of HODs and all faculty members. Course Co-ordinator Prof. Sagar Srinivas inaugurated the event by welcoming the students through his motivational speech. The students performed various cultural activities including dance, song and funny games for freshers. Prof. Harinakshi, Faculty coordinated the event. CULTURAL DAY: SANCHALANA - 2K20: Department of BBA organized cultural day Sanchalana – 2K20 on 6th February 2020 at SIMS Auditorium. Various cultural events such as Solo dance, group dance, solo singing, group singing, mime show, spot choreography and fashion show were held. Students actively participated in all the events. MANAGEMENT GAMES: The BBA Department of Srinivas College of Management and Commerce, Pandeshwar, Mangalore organised Essay Writing (English), Wealth Out of Waste, Case Study & Analysis, Cooking Without Fire, Pencil Sketch, Painting, Face Painting, Hair Style Competitions for the First- and Second-year Port, Shipping Management and Logistics students. Students participated with enthusiasm. SPORTS EVENTS: Srinivas University -BBA Port, Shipping Management and Logistics Department conducted Indoor Games such as Carrom (Singles & Doubles) and Chess for Inter Class on 11th October 2019 to 12th October 2019 in the afternoon at 2.00pm to 5.00pm. The events were initiated by Sports Coordinator Ms. Meghashree and Mrs Supriya (Faculties Srinivas University) SPORTS DAY: Sports Day was held on 08th February 2020. All the departments students actively participated in the Track events such as 1500 meter, 800 meter (Men/Women), 400 meter (Men/Women), 200 meter (Men/Women), 100 meter (Men/Women), and Throw events such as Shot put, Discus throw. BBA Port, Shipping Management & Logistics First, Second year students actively participated in these events. VOLLEYBALL: Srinivas University – volleyball (Men) was held on 29 th February 2020. All the departments students were actively participated. In the BBA volleyball team, there were ten students. All the students were very happily and enthusiastically involved in the team. All other students very cheering them.     Tourism Resources and Tourist Visitation in Selected Tourist Places of Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka – A Study Sheker Naik Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Mangalore University, Mangalagangothri Abstract Tourism is an important socio-economic and cultural activity. Today tourism resources are identified and developed with necessary tourist infrastructures throughout the world. Currently India is ranked 34th in the world out of 141 economies considered for the study by World Economic Forum in its Travel and Tourism Competitive Index Report of 2019. Tourism is gaining momentum in Karnataka, the southern state of India and the same is true in the case of Dakshina Kannada district as per as tourism resources and tourists arrivals are concerned. This study presents the digitisation important tourist attractions of the district besides making an analysis of tourist statistics during five years from 2012 to 2016. The study finds that the district has immense potential for tourism development and a lot needs to be done in order to attract the attention of more tourists to the district.     Yenepoya Green Community Project 2020 The Centre initiated a Green Community Project in 2019 which focuses on community forestry. In 2020, 300 saplings (Mahagoni, Hole dasavala, Kokke mara, Jackfruit, Mango, Badam) were planted in Dabbilachil, Naringana village and Harekala village.
