Sarawak’s policies will continue to be inclusive, says DCM Free Malaysia Today July 6, 2017 By Nawar Firdaws Sarawak's largest BN component, PBB, is inclusive in its policies which are not only seen, but also felt by the people, says deputy chief minister Douglas Uggah. KUCHING: The Sarawak government will continue being inclusive in its policies, in a way that is not just seen, but also felt by the people in the state. Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah Embas said inclusivity and power sharing have been a decades-long practice of the state’s largest Barisan Nasional (BN) component, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB). “PBB has managed to lead the government in Sarawak for a very long time, because of power sharing. “Of course there are times when things seemed to be very challenging, but we are always open for discussion, to make sure that we are not leaving anybody behind. “We are inclusive in our policies which are not only seen, but also felt by the people,” the PBB acting deputy president said in an exclusive interview with FMT in Kuching last weekend. He also addressed concerns that other BN parties were being sidelined due to PBB’s dominance in the state government. This is especially so following the Pujut crisis, which saw a majority of the state legislative assembly members voting for a ministerial motion to disqualify DAP’s Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon. BN component Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) president Dr Sim Kui Hian had earlier told FMT that he and several other BN assembly members were caught “totally unprepared” by the motion brought by the state’s International Trade and E-Commerce Minister Wong Soon Koh. -

Cutting the Russian Bear down to size on the graveyard of champions – An analysis of the metaphors used in the 2002 Official Wimbledon Film Torben Schmidt, Frankfurt ([email protected]) Abstract Sports reports on the radio, on television, or in newspapers are usually characterized by very vivid language full of metaphorical terms and expressions. After an introduction to the most prominent metaphor theories, this paper focuses on an analysis of metaphor usage in an English tennis report. Based on a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the spoken commentary of the 2002 Official Wimbledon Film, the aim of this paper is to establish how many and what kind of metaphors are typically used in this film, to which image donor fields the different metaphors belong, and how certain metaphors interact with each other within the commentary. 1. In the East Malaysia states of Sabah and Sa- rawak, however, it was local factors and state nationalism that largely de- cided the outcome of GE14. -

Andy Murray Articles 2004-2006
ANDY MURRAY ARTICLES 2004-2006 2004 Scots tennis 'courting disaster' Despite helping to produce world-class young players Scotland’s top tennis trainer has quit in disgust, writes Tom Lynch Published: 8 August 2004 There’s a wistful note to coach Murray’s voice when she recalls the moment. A hint of pride too. “I couldn’t believe that the kids I started off with when they were eight or nine were in the biggest tournament in the world.” Now, as a summer fog descends on her Dunblane home, Murray’s mood has changed. All the optimism has been replaced by frustration. Last week she resigned from her post at Tennis Scotland, disgusted at the lack of backing from the country’s sports administrators and its politicians and fearing that youngsters who have the talent to win top titles could be forced to leave the game. She is not alone in her thinking. According to Murray, three of the four tennis development staff in Scotland have quit this year, allegedly fed up with their puny resources. Next to go, Murray fears, will be the country’s outstanding crop of young players, forced out of the game because there is simply not the money to help them break through into the big time, to compete alongside the Tim Henmans and Greg Rusedskis for the top honours. The tragic thing is, she says, is that she and her colleagues have produced tremendous talents “against all the odds”. For, while the Scottish executive plans to spend £30m on football to make it competitive again on the world stage, funding for tennis has been slashed by 60%. -
