ACCOMPLISHMENTS and SERVICE

Elected to serve as The Theatre School representative to university level Workplace Environment Committee for Adjunct Faculty at DePaul University. Responsibilities include soliciting and presenting Theatre School Adjunct Faculty concerns, preparing for and attending WEC regular and special meetings, participating in WEC sponsored events for DePaul Adjunct Faculty and serving on the Faculty Council subcommittee, 2016 – present.

Chosen by Provost of DePaul University and served on Adjunct Faculty Task Force Selection Committee, 2016.

Advised two to three undergraduate scene design students per year during their productions at The Theatre School, DePaul University. Responsibilities include facilitating the collaborative process during initial design meetings, interfacing with student designers, faculty directors and shop, attending periodic production meetings used to gauge student progress and providing artistic comment and practical advice during technical rehearsals, 2000 – present.

Mentored design and technology students after graduation by providing recommendations for jobs in Chicago area theatre as well as employing them as assistants in my professional design studio, 2000 – present.

Applied for and received a Summer Teaching Award in order to incorporate Desire2Learn online technology into Technical Drawing (AutoCAD) class at The Theatre School, DePaul University, 2011 – 2013.

Created, implemented and taught new classes in AutoCAD Drafting and Model Building at The Theatre School, DePaul University, 2002 and 2006.

Advised the Dean and faculty of The Theatre School at DePaul University on purchase of computer hardware, CAD and graphics software, 2002.

Acted as network administrator and oversaw installation of new computer hardware and software at the Theatre School, DePaul University, 2002 – 2003.

Mentored both graduate and undergraduate students during design and collaborative process on departmental productions at Northern Illinois University and Loyola University, 1998 – 2003.

Planned and oversaw bidding process for dimming and control upgrade at Northern Illinois University, 2000.

Initiated, planned and executed conversion of theatre sound system from analog to digital at Northern Illinois University, 1999.

Prepared undergraduate design students for participation in U/RTA presentations and interviews at Vanderbilt University, 1992 – 1996 and Northern Illinois University, 1998 – 2001.

Revitalized design program at Vanderbilt University and quadrupled enrollment in classes over a four-year period. Through student advisement and mentoring, contributed to threefold increase in Theatre Arts majors and students continuing on to graduate work in design, 1992 – 1996.

Invited for and served as Guest Artist-in-Residence and Scenic Designer for Illinois Repertory Theatre, Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, 1995.

Selected as Scenic/Lighting Designer at Interlochen Center for the Arts during summers of 1993-95. Planned, implemented and taught new theatre arts major in Stage Design and Technology.

Advised approximately 30 freshman and sophomore non-theatre students per academic year in course selection and other issues at Vanderbilt University, 1994-96.

Represented Vanderbilt University at United States Institute of Theatre Technology (USITT) Annual National Conventions. Selected works displayed in Designers’ Exhibition, 1993-96.
