Nick Nye moved to Columbus in 2007 to plant Veritas Community Church after graduating with his M.Div. from the Billy Graham School of Missions, Evangelism and Ministry. He received support from Louisville’s Sojourn Community Church, where he served under lead pastor and Southern alumnus Daniel Montgomery, and the North American Mission Board’s Nehemiah Project. Nye said he chose the Short North district because he believed it was the “best place to influence the whole city,” which according to NAMB research has only one SBC church for every 16,686 people. More than 63 percent of Columbus residents are not affiliated with any religious group.
