    A WORD FROM THE PRODUCERS Michael Holzer Jacque Carnahan One year ago, we came together at the Gershwin Theatre for the very first Arts for Autism concert. Dozens of Broadway actors joined more than 150 young performers to take part in a show that inspired, educated and entertained us. It was uplifting to see so many passionate artists collaborate to raise awareness, encourage acceptance and to celebrate the power of the arts. We also witnessed the Broadway debut of Gina Hitsos, a young singer with autism who found her voice through the magic of music. There was an infectious feeling of love, excitement and optimism as everyone left the theatre that night. After a year of planning and projects we are back! We have many new and exciting developments since last June. After debuting a special arrangement of “Defying Gravity” in last year’s concert, we released a music video to share the beautiful message with an even wider audience. In February, we ventured out to the Ice Plant Recording studios in Queens with three former Broadway Elphabas from Wicked to reimagine the song we know and love. You can find the video on our website at ArtsForAutism.net. In May, we joined Autism Speaks at MetLife Stadium for the Northern New Jersey Walk. We were thrilled to be there and show our support. Jacque and our talented musicians serenaded and entertained the walkers; it was wonderful to see firsthand the positive impact that music can have. Now it’s June, and here we are again at the Gershwin Theatre.

Jon Tracy (Berkeley Playhouse, Aurora Theatre Company, Shotgun Players, San Francisco Playhouse, Magic Theatre) helms this musical from the Golden Age of Broadway, featuring a cast of 22, and choreography by Chris Black (Berkeley Playhouse, Aurora Theatre Company).     Twenty Years of Fine Performing Arts at Your Washington Pavilion s we celebrate our 20th season we’d like to take a look back at where we’ve been and what has gotten us to where we are now. In the playbill for ASPAMALOT we covered the first ten years of shows presented in the Pavilion Performance Series at the Washington Pavilion and the extremely diverse and vastly entertaining roster. The ten years that followed were no exception and expanded our tradition of presenting educational, enriching and entertaining live experiences. In 2009, we launched our 11th season with the hit Broadway musical, MAMMA MIA! Aquila Theatre Company’s AS YOU LIKE IT told the story of power hungry men exiling their brothers, girls playing guys and finding love in unexpected places. The hilarious new musical, THE CHURCH BASEMENT LADIES featuring Bill Christopher, also known as M*A*S*H’s Father Mulcahy, was presented in October. Royal Winnipeg Ballet kicked off 2010 with their performance of A Cinderella Story. The season wrapped up with Melissa Gilbert performing in eight shows of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE-THE MUSICAL. We presented more Broadway than ever starting with our 12th season in 2010. LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL, MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT, AVENUE Q and DISNEY’S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST all took to the stage of the Mary W. Sommervold Hall and amazed audiences with a very diverse spectrum of what Broadway has to offer. Dance company, Philadanco, also made a stop in Sioux Falls with their electrifying fusion of cultural dance and modern storytelling.
