P R E S S R E L E A S E BDO Events Signs Additional Multi-Year Deal With The British Darts Organisation Following the hugely successful inaugural British Darts Organisation (BDO) World Trophy held in Blackpool in February, organisers have today signed a new multi-year deal. The exclusive deal, which follows an existing multi-year deal, with the British Darts Organisation (BDO) will see BDO Events becoming the exclusive agent for commercial sales, broadcast and sponsorship for more than 250* tournaments organised by the BDO. This paves the way for BDO Events to promote a minimum of four new major BDO tournaments annually, with the stature of the World Trophy** these are in addition to the BDO World Trophy and the Professional League already contracted in the first agreement. As the commercial partner of The British Darts Organisation, these two agreements now give BDO Events a firm foundation of both quality and breadth of tournaments to deliver a sound broadcasting and general commercial platform. This will deliver more high level opportunities for the BDO top ranked players to showcase their undoubted quality providing profile, revenue and development across all facets of the sport for the recognised governing body of darts. Scott Newhouse, BDO Events chairman, said: “It’s a testament to the growing appeal of darts that the BDO is keen to further strengthen our relationship and roll out yet more events. We are now the only agents to take the BDO forward commercially. This new agreement is the next pillar in our long-term strategic plan to return BDO tournaments to the pinnacle of British darts. “We have some exciting and innovative plans ahead and look forward to shaping and delivering the new calendar in the years to come and playing our full part in growing the grass roots of the sport ***. Sue Williams, chairperson of the BDO, said: “We now have two multi-year deals with BDO Events and we are delighted that this latest arrangement will see them looking after the commercial interests across all our tournaments. Brian has previously held roles as commercial director of Newcastle United, the Football League and the Premier League. Brian advises rights holders, sports clubs and governing bodies on the exploitation of their commercial and media assets.
