Tech firm GeoResonance claims its sensor technology has found the wreckage of a plane in the Bay of Bengal, 118 miles south of Bangladesh. The company said images taken of the same spot five days earlier showed it had appeared between the 5th and 10th of March 2014. The plane disappeared on March 8. The GeoResonance search team scanned the ocean floor for metals found in commercial planes. All six scans came from the same location, 118 miles off the coast of Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal 'The company is not declaring this is MH370, however it should be investigated,' GeoResonance said in a statement. The company's director, David Pope, said he only went public with the information after he felt the authorities were disregarding it. 'We're a large group of scientists, and we were being ignored, and we thought we had a moral obligation to get our findings to the authorities,' he told CNN today. GeoResonance typically uses remote sensing technology to look for oil, gas and mineral deposits. The news comes as international search teams gathered in Perth digest the news that the hope of finding any floating debris has all-but vanished, with any pieces of MH370 likely to have sunk to the ocean floor. It used the same technology to look for chemical elements in aircraft, such as aluminum, titanium and jet fuel residue. The company, which uses its technology to excite the nucleii of a specific atom in order to detect it, started searching for the plane on April 12 by initially trying to find aluminium - the most abundant metal used to build the 777 model. +11 GeoResonance claims it has found the wreckage of an aircraft in the Bay Bengal - thousands of miles from where authorities have focused their search Once it detects aluminium it moves onto the next most abundant metal - titanium, followed by copper, steel alloys, then other materials - in order to narrow down the search. Scanning 'multispectral images' taken from the air GeoResonance says it found an 'anomaly' in the Bay of Bengal. However, the Joint Agency Coordination Centre, which is coordinating the multinational search, dismissed the claim. 'The Australian-led search is relying on information from satellite and other data to determine the missing aircraft's location,' the JACC said. 'The location specified by the GeoResonance report is not within the search arc derived from this data. The joint international team is satisfied that the final resting place of the missing aircraft is in the southerly portion of the search arc.' +11 The surface search for MH370 has been called off. The search for the missing plane will continue but enter a new phase, focusing on searching the ocean floor Malaysian Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein said Tuesday that China and Australia were aware of the announcement. 'Malaysia is working with its international partners to assess the credibility of this information,' a statement from his office said. In what is seen as an admission that MH370 will never be found, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said yesterday that the surface search was being scaled back because it is 'highly unlikely' clues will be found on the surface of the Indian Ocean. Instead, the search will enter a new phase with the focus on the ocean floor - despite there being no 'pings' from what was earlier hoped were the aircraft's black boxes. Mr Abbott said that as the aircraft, which had 239 people on board, has been missing for 52 days, if there had been any debris from the aircraft it would have now sunk. 'By this stage, 52 days into the search, most material would have become waterlogged and sunk' said Mr Abbott. He paid tribute to the 'tremendous work' of air crews from eight nations who have contributed to the search. His words were seen as virtually admitting that the search had little prospect of finding the aircraft, particularly as a concentrated hunt by the undersea search vehicle Bluefin-21 in a 'likely area' had found nothing. Adding to the mystery is the testimony of sea current experts that anything that floats is likely to have washed up on rocks or a beach somewhere. But nothing has turned up and air and sea searches have also failed to find even a slick of oil that could be linked to the missing plane if it had plunged into the sea. Malaysia's Prime Minister, Mr Najib Razak, conceded in an interview that investigators had made no substantial progress since March 28 - the date experts calculated from satellite data the plane crashed into the Indian Ocean. 'That's all we have until today,' Mr Najib told the Wall Street Journal.+11 Earlier, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, questioned whether MH370 had even crashed into the Indian Ocean - and he blamed manufacturer Boeing for its fate. He also suggested the reason passengers and crew did not act to stop whatever was happening on the Boeing 777 aircraft after it had taken off from Kuala Lumpur was because they were 'somehow incapacitated.' In an opinion piece, Dr Mahathir, who maintains a strong influence in Malaysia's ruling party, said there was no chance, as had been suggested, that the pilot had committed suicide. 'Even if the pilot wants to commit suicide, the co-pilot and the cabin crew would not allow him to do so without trying something,' said the former prime minister. 'But no-one, not even the passengers did anything.' Dr Mahathir also questioned why no debris or oil slick from the plane has been found. 'Can it be that the plane remained intact on crashing and sank with no trace and no-one launching the lifeboat doors as we are told all these aircraft are equipped with? 'Can one believe this plane quietly floated down into the raging sea and sank conveniently in the deepest part of the Indian Ocean?' He said it must have taken some effort if the pilot, Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah, had disabled the plane's communication system. 'The co-pilot would notice and for his own life he would have tried to do something.' Dr Mahathir, 88, who was Prime Minister for 22 years, asked: 'Was he disabled? Were all the crew members and the passengers disabled?' He expressed his sadness that staff of Malaysia Airlines were targeted by Chinese relatives of passengers in Beijing last week 'because they are blaming the wrong people.' 'The loss of the plane is due to the makers, Boeing. How can Boeing produce a plane that is so easily disabled?' In an era where passenger planes can be tracked on mobile phones and spy satellites operated by some countries are able to photography and identify a single person on the ground, Boeing had to explain how all these methods of tracking the aircraft 'can be disabled, can fail.' The former Prime Minister's controversial comments did not end there. 'Either Beoing technology is poor or it is not fail-safe. 'I would not like to fly in a Boeing aircraft unless Boeing can explain how all its systems can fail or be disabled.' Boeing, he said in his blog post, must demonstrate how the communication system could be disabled. The company, he added, 'must accept responsibility for building an aircraft that can disappear in mid- air so completely.' Insisting that Malaysia Airlines were not to blame for the tragedy, he said it was standard practice that when a plane crashes, a team of experts would arrive at the scene soonest so as to find the cause of the crash 'Boeing and the authorities in the manufacturing country should be looking out for the plane. 'Maybe the plane type should be grounded. But Boeing has shown no interest and had said practically nothing.' Responding to Dr Mahathir's comments, a Boeing spokesman told MailOnline: 'Our thoughts and deepest sympathies continue to be with the families and loved ones of those aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight 370.

When asked whether NEAC had listed down any ideas, Mustapa said the council had yet to come out with any recommendation as its members were still at the thinking stage. The Second Finance Minister, Datuk Dr Jamaludin Jarjis last week said the government was studying possible measures for economic growth to help the country face any challenges arising from the global security threats. Jamaludin also said that Prime Minister was expected to announce the measures soon. Earlier in his lecture, Mustapa said the country needed a whole new brand of entrepreneurs who were endowed with qualities that would steer this country successfully in a more dynamic environment. He said it would be essential for the new breed of entrepreneurs to collaborate with the brick-and-mortar entrepreneurs of the Old Economy, with the old financing the projects of the young.

Historically, UMNO splinter parties have never been able to threaten UMNO in this state. Since independence, Johor has always been seen as an UMNO bastion. • PPBM has moved quickly to establish themselves in all parliamentary and state constituencies in Johor, however, and it has been rather successful in attracting support from those aged below 35. Their key challenge remains the rural and female voters. • Identity politics is a major hurdle for PPBM. The presence of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in the Pakatan Harapan coalition — of which PPBM is a member — is a hurdle in attracting Malay support. Among Malay voters, DAP is perceived as a threat to Malay privileges. • At the same time, PPBM leaders in Johor believe that their contribution towards the coalition is not yet fully recognized by their coalition partners who insist that PPBM contests only in constituencies with a large Malay population. Areas with a high percentage of Malay voters are difficult for PPBM to win because UMNO tends to enjoy huge support in such constituencies, and PPBM leaders argue that they deserve more mixed seats to run in as well.

Even though we are a small oil producing country, Malaysia stands in solidarity with oil producing countries in pursuing the strategic objective of achieving global market stability in the interest of all oil producers and consumers, taking into consideration the prevailing market conditions and prospects. Therefore, as a testament of the Government of Malaysia’s commitment to international cooperation to face economic challenges posed by the global oil market, Malaysia has agreed to continue its voluntary commitment by reducing its total oil output by 15,000 barrels per day. This is revised from an earlier cut level of 20,000 barrels per day as part of a previously agreed arrangement that expires at the end of this year. Malaysia views highly of this collaboration to strengthen cooperation between members of OPEC and non-OPEC countries to face challenges posed by the global market. The commitments made under this proactive collaboration between participating countries are to be voluntarily implemented, non-binding and would not in any way affect the rights of peoples and nations to permanent sovereignty over the exploitation and management of their natural resources. The global market reacted positively when oil prices climbed at the conclusion of the meeting.

How did this start? The Prime Minister believed that many Chinese businessmen would have gone bankrupt if the government had not helped them by taking certain measures during the recession which hit the country before the 1999 general election. However, he was disappointed with the way certain groups like the Chinese education movement had acted despite the government's gesture to help the Chinese. "Before the (last) general election, we helped the Chinese a lot. If not they would have become bankrupt. But this is what we get in return," he told reporters after visiting flood-hit areas and evacuation centres in the Kubang Pasu parliamentary constituency which he represents. Dr Mahathir said this when asked to comment on reports that the Chinese education movement was supporting the opposition in the Lunas state by-election, polling for which is on Wednesday. Dr Mahathir said if it was true that the movement was backing the opposition, then it should seek help from the opposition and not turn to the government anymore. He said the government could overcome various problems involving the Chinese, including the Vision School issue. He regretted that the movement did not want to mix with others and wished to isolate itself. Asked on opposition allegations that development could only be obtained after an assemblyman's death, Dr Mahathir said: "Development has nothing to do with an elected representative's death because it is carried out continuously." The allegation was made by the opposition during campaigning in the Lunas by-election.

Re- Mahathirisation refers to the increase in attachment towards the legacy of Malaysia's fourth Prime Minister, Dr. Mahathir Mohamad (1981–2003). Transpiring not long after Mahathir's relinquishment of official power, the process was seen as approaching a peak with BN-UMNO's campaign for the 13th General Elections (GE13) of May 2013. It was orchestrated especially by conservative elements in UMNO disillusioned with the political liberalisation began by his successor Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (2003–2009) and continued by Najib Razak. In line with an understanding of conservatism as characterised by resistance against radical change and by admiration of past values, re- Mahathirisation was employed by the BN-UMNO regime during the GE13 hustings to court the large pool of conservative-minded Malay voters. The successful dislodging of Abdullah Badawi from the party-cum-national leadership in 2009 signified a powerful return of Mahathirism to the foreground of UMNO and national politics. Although Najib Razak has pursued Abdullah's political liberalisation initiatives, he felt compelled to tolerate a rising public presence of Mahathir.

Mahathir Mohamad's leadership and achievements in driving Malaysia's modernization are well known because the effort has succeeded in benefiting Malaysians so that he can be appointed as the Father of Malaysian Modernization. The effectiveness of his leadership can be assessed based on the achievements that have been successfully achieved by the country through the implementation of actions and policies that he led throughout leading the country. Therefore, this article aims to discuss the elements of Mahathir's leadership by tracing his leadership when implementing actions and policies to modernize Malaysia so that it can achieve a proud achievement in the context of the development of the Malaysian nation. This study uses the method of document analysis by analyzing the text of Mahathir's speech as the main source and applying thematic analysis as an analysis approach. The text of the speech was analyzed thematically to identify the themes that exist and refer to the elements of leadership applied by him throughout the implementation of actions and policies to modernize the country.
