Les chansons interprétées par Jamey Johnson pour ces démos incluent Songs About Me, (reprise par Trace Adkins) et That's How They Do It in Dixie, (reprise par Hank Williams Jr, Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Van Zant). 2009: cet album a valu à Jamey un disque d'or. • Keith Hill on Keith Hill
June 1, 2015, Issue 450 Addressing SaladGate Six pages of in-depth reporting on Women In Country and a post-CRS panel write-up in which Keith Hill urged slashing female- voiced songs made nary a ripple outside the business a few months back. But the consultant’s lettuce-and-tomatoes analogy last week in this space touched off a social and, eventually, major media tidal wave. Go figure. We’ll get to Hill in the next story (right), after female PDs and MDs weigh in with their thoughts on a well-known though still confounding reality. In full disclosure, some of the women we contacted declined to contribute for lack of time or lack of what they felt would be helpful feedback. Some passed because they weren’t comfortable publicly commenting in a “no-win argument.” And some came to us asking to be part of the conversation. • Jamey Johnson
ACM Week With... Jameyas Vegas. April, 2009. Jamey Johnson ascends to the ACM stage to Johnson accept Song of the Year for “In Color.” He is planning a little-known Lemotional tribute for his upcoming performance on the show. And the next day, he’ll pay tribute to a man who, in many respects, made it all possible. Two years earlier at the same event, George Strait’s “Give It Away” won Song of the Year, and co-writer Johnson took heart. “That’s the song that in many ways revived my will to keep doing this,” he says. “Not that I decided I was going to quit, but him cutting that straight, traditional-type song showed me there’s an audience out there. It instilled hope in me that people were looking for that kind of music.” And for Johnson, unquestionably, the music is everything. Strait’s cut starts a chain of events that eventually results in Mercury picking up Johnson’s self- released That Lonesome Song, now a gold record and one of the most widely praised country albums in years. And an amazing weekend in Las Vegas helps show Johnson just how far that music has taken him. “It’s like being welcomed into a family,” Johnson says of his full-circle journey. “It’s just a huge honor.” Music First: Performing for two national television broadcasts, one live and one taped, is the entirety of Johnson’s focus leading up to the shows. “I brought my band and I’m playing live,” he tells Country Aircheck two days before the awards.

Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.
