It’s the stop that lobbyists and political consultants get off to trudge work each day, having lost their positions as power brokers of the political campaigns they strategized. It’s an image of somewhere that none of the characters in this play want to end up--the end of the line of career trajectory. I looked at the play as a study in how we work together in our careers, how far we test our moral compass to get ahead, the lines are we willing to cross with work friends and colleagues. What white lies are acceptable? The playwright said this play could have been written about any work arena, the entertainment industry, Wall Street, or even Home Depot. Ambition is everywhere, politics exist whenever two people come together. This is also a play about passion—the belief that a candidate of our choice can change our individual lives and our country for the better. Voting and volunteerism keep that possibility alive. My deepest gratitude to the actors and the staff on this production who have jumped on this train with me to share a most wonderfully creative and unforgettable journey.
