MINNESOTA WILD RE-SIGNS FORWARD KYLE RAU TO A ONE-YEAR, TWO-WAY CONTRACT

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the (NHL) club has re-signed forward Kyle Rau to a one-year, two-way contract ($700,000/$275,000) for the 2020-21 season.

Rau, 27 (10/24/92), recorded 43 points (14-29=43), six penalty minutes (PIM), four power-play goals (PPG), one game- winning (GWG) and 135 shots in 51 games last season with the of the (AHL). The 5-foot-8, 175-pound native of Eden Prairie, Minn., ranked third on the team in assists, fourth in points, T-4th in PPG and fifth in goals and shots. He set a career-best nine-game streak from Nov. 16-Dec. 27 (2-14=16). Since joining Iowa in 2017- 18, the left-shot forward ranks first in Iowa history in PPG (31), second in power-play points (71), third in points (146), fourth in goals (63), assists (83), power-play assists (40) and shots (504) and is T-9th in GWG (5).

Rau owns 204 points (92-112=204), 102 PIM, 32 PPG, five SHG, eight GWG and 768 shots in 307 career AHL games in six seasons with San Antonio, Portland, Springfield and Iowa (2014-20). The forward became the first player in Iowa history with multiple hat tricks in a single season: Jan. 14, 2019 and March 2, 2019. He led the team and ranked T-1st in the AHL with 17 PPG during the 2018-19 campaign. Rau has eight points (5-3=8), eight PIM, two PPG and 30 shots in 17 career Calder Cup Playoff games with San Antonio, Portland and Iowa. He set a career-best six playoff points (4-2=6), including two PPG, in 11 contests with the Wild during the 2019 postseason.

Rau owns five points (2-3=5), six PIM, 46 shots and 46 hits in 42 career games in four NHL seasons with Florida and Minnesota (2015-19). He made his NHL debut with Florida on Feb. 20, 2016 vs. Winnipeg. Rau signed as a free agent with Minnesota on July 1, 2017 and tallied an assist in his Wild debut on Jan. 20, 2018 vs. Tampa Bay. He became the 22nd Minnesota-born skater to play for the Wild. His brother, Chad, skated in nine games with Minnesota in 2011-12 to mark the first set of brothers to wear a Wild sweater. Rau made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game 5 at Winnipeg on April 20, 2018.
