Totally pleasing on the palate with “lots of classic Pinot Noir character...charming and layered,” according to Wine Advocate, our Tasting Panel joined the wine’s fan club picking up on its superb elegance and solicitous style. Reasons we love it: ● 2014 quality. Hailing from an Excellently-rated Central Coast Pinot Noir vintage, this wine exhibits serious charisma and balance. The third vintage in a row to show off such appealing characteristics. ● Not a typical sun-baked grape. This Pinot’s Central Coast sourcing spans multiple vineyards - McCullough, C-Bar, Poeschl, Las Ventanas, Rincon and Marcum - whose commonality includes uber cool, fog-filled days that reveal exciting varietal qualities. ● A Talley Vineyards tradition. Part of the Talley Vineyards family, the Bishop’s Peak label is handcrafted with just as much care as Talley’s first wine made over 30 years ago. ● Pinot expertise. Winemaker Eric Johnson has spent a decade with Talley - 7 years as head winemaker - and this guy knows his stuff. He travels the globe for knowledge (France, Italy, New Zealand, Argentina and Chile) and most impressively, serves on the Board of Directors for the World of Pinot Noir. Ratings 91 Insider Points 91 points - Vinous Gold Medal- 2016 International Wine Awards Reviews The wines has a nose of rose hips and raspberry and clove. The wine is lighter in style and appears to be bright, ruby in color. Tasting the wine showcases a bold cherry compote quality that settles into a spice driven pinot noir. Some elements of ocean mist intermingle with the fruit through the finish. Complex, Bishop's’ Peak from Talley vineyards shines a light on the lesser known region of San Luis Obispo. Drink now and often, pair with pork and hard cheese. - DZ 5/17 "Translucent red. High-pitched red berry, cherry and rose pastille scents are lifted by blood orange and mineral nuances. Silky, weightless and focused on the palate, offering juicy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors that become deeper and sweeter with air. Shows impressive depth of flavor but comes off lithe, even delicate. Clings with serious tenacity on the gently tannic finish, which strongly echoes the red fruit and floral notes."- Vinous.
