Einen nicht unwesentlichen Anteil daran hat die (/component/tags/tag/87- Schlagzeug-Arbeit von Robert Crenshaw, der mit kraftvoller vinyl-vorschau.html) Snaredrum und gelungen Rhythmuswechsel richtig Leben in die Bude bringt. Die Songs haben einen eingängigen Charakter, gehen Reissue leicht ins Ohr, sorgen dort aber dann doch für manchen Haken. Diese Platte enthält fünf Songs, Rock davon vier als alternative Mixe und die Elvis Presley-Nummer „Little (/component/tags/tag/107- Sister" als Live-Track. rock.html) Auch wenn mich der Klang der LP jetzt nicht gerade umwirft, so ist rein Analog deutlich die sorgfältige Arbeit Kevin Grey (CoHEARent Audio) und (/component/tags/tag/51- Ryan K. Smith (Sterling Sound) erkennbar. Das Schlagzeug ist rein-analog.html) sauber verifizierbar, der Gesang hingegen wurde (vermutlich beim Mastering von Greg Calbi) weit hinten im Raum gemischt. Knackiger gehts dann auf der 45er Bonus-EP zu, das klingt dynamischer und irgendwie packender. „Field Day" muss man nicht haben. Doch hört man sich die Platte genau an, entdeckt man das gelungene Songwriting und die gelungene Arbeit des Produzenten Steve Lillywhite (u.a. Peter Gabriel, Joan Armatrading, David Byrne, The Rolling Stones, U2). Und man ertappt sich dabei, die fröhlich wirkenden Melodien mitzupfeiffen. Warum auch nicht?
