Consultation Statement for the Sele Neighbourhood Area Plan
CONSULTATION STATEMENT FOR THE SELE NEIGHBOURHOOD AREA PLAN INTRODUCTION 1. This Statement has been prepared to append the Draft version of the Sele Neighbourhood Area Plan (“The Plan”) for submission to the relevant local planning authority, East Herts District Council under the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012 (“The Regulations”). 2. A consultation statement is a statutory document of the Neighbourhood Planning process. The Regulations of 2012, Part 5 Paragraph 15 (2) define a “consultation statement” as a document that: a) Details of the persons and bodies who were consulted about the proposed neighbourhood development plan; b) Explains how they were consulted; c) Summarises the main issues and concerns raised by the persons consulted; d) Describes how these issues and concerns have been considered and, where relevant, addressed in the Neighbourhood Development Plan. 3. The consultation process was necessary in order to: a) Publicise and explain the Neighbourhood Planning process among Sele ward residents; b) Seek the opinion of the public on the improvements needed in the area, and feedback on the proposed objectives and policies of the Plan. 4. The document sets out the steps taken to engage and consult with the community in Sele ward and presents how the opinion of the public has influenced the writing and amendment of the Sele Neighbourhood Plan. 5. Hertford Town Council would like to sincerely thank all those who have contributed to the production of the Sele Neighbourhood Area Plan. The volunteers for this project spent many hours gathering data and proposing objectives and solutions for the Neighbourhood Plan, under the guidance of the Planning Consultant, Jacqueline Veater. -

Richard Hale School Parents’ Handbook September 2021 – July 2022 Richard Hale School Hale Road Hertford SG13 8EN Dear Parents, I would like to welcome you and your son to Richard Hale School for what I hope will be an enjoyable and exciting seven year experience. We know that, in a “normal year”, the transfer from primary to secondary school can be stressful for both students and parents. Clearly, this year the process has been disrupted and the boys will not have had the usual opportunities to come to the school and meet staff. We will, however, do all that we can to ensure that your son settles to school life at Richard Hale as quickly and smoothly as possible. We have now visited all of your sons at primary school and spoken to each of their teachers. We are also delighted that a very large number will be attending the Summer School in the first week of the holidays. In September, if conditions allow, there is the Parents’ Association Wine and Cheese evening, and the “Meet the Tutor” evening in October. This booklet is part of the transition process, so I hope the information contained in it will enable you and your son to become quickly familiar with daily life at Richard Hale School. The latest version can always be found on the school website. Please note that we have not made changes to all of this booklet to cover the current situation with Covid 19, as this is an ever changing situation. Much of the booklet refers to the operation of the school during “normal” times, to which we all hope to return soon. -

The Story of Ashridge House
Ashridge House The story of Ashridge goes back to the time when Edward I’s cousin, Edmund, acquired on his travels what he believed to be a portion of Christ’s blood. When Edmund succeeded to the title of Earl of Cornwall, he established a monastery at a spot high up in the Chilterns, some 600 ft above sea level and just two miles from Berkhamsted Castle which he had inherited and was his home. The monastery, founded in 1283, was called Ashridge College, and the Augustinian monks, known as Bonhommes, were committed to guard the precious portion of Christ’s blood and other sacred relics that were lodged there. With its royal connections, Ashridge soon became important, and. Edward I held a parliament there in 1291. While in mourning over the death of his wife Queen Eleanor, the king spent Christmas with the monks at Ashridge, ‘in the cold solitude of the Chiltern beechwoods’. In subsequent centuries Ashridge College continued to have royal patronage. The Black Prince, whose favourite home was Berkhamsted Castle, involved himself in the affairs of Ashridge College, and in his will left it his great bejewelled table to be used as an altar there. But in the years leading up to the Reformation, Ashridge College went into decline. Henry VIII was a friend of the Rector of the College, but it was only a few years after the king stayed there that he ordered the dissolution of all the monasteries. In 1539 Ashridge was closed, its treasures dispersed or destroyed, and the last monks left forever. -

It helps fund many village activities and developments. We produce The Gaddesden Diary four times a year. This gives club reports, a calendar of future events and a contact if you would like to join any club or organisation. If you would like to subscribe to the four Diaries, please telephone our Distribution Secretary. Copies are also available in the Village Shop. The Gaddesden Society holds social evenings with a talk four to six times a year: our programme is published in the Diary and on our website. Everyone is welcome at these evenings, which are social occasions to meet others in the village over a glass of wine and listen to interesting talks. The cost is only £1. You do not have to ‘join’ The Gaddesden Society, which is open to all. -

http://www.wgccentenary.org/ email: [email protected] WELWYN GARDEN CITY CENTENARY – SPORT FOR ALL CELEBRATING A CENTURY OF SPORT SUMMER 2019 NEWSLETTER Planning Continues So far this year we have been concentrating on meeting as many Clubs as possible, and several for the second or third time, as we continue to encourage and refine the various ideas and plans that come forward. This has now concluded and we know that we have a tremendous range of sports, Clubs, Schools and Youth Groups committed to make 2020 a year to remember. In summary: 47 Clubs will take part, representing 25 Sports, and 3 Secondary, 16 Primaries and 2 Special Schools will take part as well as Scouts, Cubs, Guides, Brownies and the various Cadet groups. We expect several thousand people to be involved across all sports and for many more to come and see what the town’s Sports Clubs have to offer. A good outcome from our discussions is that several Clubs want to arrange a fixture against their counterparts in Letchworth so we will be able to see just who comes out on top in a Garden City contest. Many Clubs have been developing special centenary tournaments between themselves which they hope can be repeated in future years, giving us a real legacy from the Centenary. Funding and Sponsorship We have mentioned to you all our wish to provide some tangible reward for all your efforts and to provide something for those taking part to remind them about what took place. With terrific help from our Fundraiser, Catherine Farrell and our Marketing Manager, Kate Adam, we have been very successful and we are confident that we will be able to provide Trophies for winning Clubs and individuals, medals for competitors, plaques for Clubs to display in their Club Houses to show that they took part, and, where possible, t-shirts to proclaim I Was There.
