Made in Denmark – En Oplevelse Af De Helt Store!!! Made In Denmark – en oplevelse af de helt store!!! Da Danmark for ca. 11 år siden lagde græs til den første Europa Tour nogensinde på Dansk jord spåede mange at det ville blive en succes af de helt store. Desværre lykkedes projektet ikke i sin helhed og mange virksomheder pumpede penge i et stort hul og tabte mange penge på den oplevelse. Da undertegnede dengang meldte sig som frivillig var det med en forventning om, at jeg skulle være med til noget ekstra ordinært stort på dansk grund. Men selv som frivillig oplevedes dårlig koordination og andre ting som et nederlag, og sådan endte det jo også for projektet i sin helhed. Om det så er forskellen på Sjællandsk græs eller Jyllandsk græs, om det er forskellen på at have mange mindre investorer til sådan event eller en af Danmarks stærkeste købmænd, om det er forskellen på at arrangementet har været før en krise eller efter en krise og man derefter står stærkere sammen, ja det skal jeg lade være usagt. Men hvis der er noget jeg har erfaret i uge 33 i år, så er det at jyderne er fænomenale til at opsætte, arrangere og afvikle et Europa Tour event af den kaliber som Himmerland Golf & Spa Resort gjorde det. Allerede da de første meldinger gik på, at man kunne melde sig som frivillig var jeg ”ude med riven”. Jeg vidste at jeg gerne ville være med på det team og sendte en ”ansøgning” på lige fod med mange andre interesserede golfspillere. Fra Made In Denmark hørte jeg ret tidligt at de skulle bruge 800-850 frivillige og at man havde modtaget mere end 2.000 ansøgninger, så derfra var det egentlig blot at vente på at høre nærmere. Da jeg så i det spæde forår modtog bekræftelse på at jeg var blandt de udvalgte, kunne man begynde at planlægge selve turen. Ved at ringe rundt til de nærmeste campingpladser kunne jeg dog hurtigt konstatere, at det ville blive helt umuligt at få en campingplads, da alt allerede var optaget – flere havde ganske enkelt bare været hurtigere end mig…. Nå men dagene gik og uge 33 nærmede sig. I dagene op til blev campingvognen klargjort med alt der hørte sig dertil (vi fik plads i Crew Camp som MID havde arrangeret specielt til de frivillige). Og så oprandt dagen, hvor vi skulle afsted. Meget tidligt tirsdag morgen blev campingvognen spændt bag bilen og så gik turen ellers mod Aars og Himmerland. Inden vi kørte hele vejen op gennem Jylland tog vi dog lige en sviptur fordi det Tyske for at sikre os lidt proviant til turen. Og så startede ”det” som skulle vise sig at blive en fantastisk op- levelse. Allerede ved Aalborg begyndte der at stå skilte ude på motorvejen med retning mod Made In Denmark. Nu kunne man da for alvor mærke, at ”Dyne Larsen” havde sat sit eget præg på det nordjyske med disse mange skilte – ingen, absolut ingen skulle være i tvivl om, at Europa Touren var kommet til lille Danmark. Vel ankommet til Crew Camp tirsdag eftermiddag tænkte vi, at vi lige måtte melde vores ankomst i Himmerland (Crew Camp lå i Aars, ca. 15 min. kørsel fra Himmerland) så vi koblede camping- vognen fra, riggede den til, hilste på vores naboer og skyndte os til golfbanen. Allerede der mødte os et fantastisk syn – styr på indkørsel, styr på parkeringspladser, styr på telt by, styr på frivillig delen. Det hele osede af professionelle der havde styr på hver en detalje – dejligt. Vi summede lidt rundt den første dag, hentede armbånd, hilste på mange af de andre frivillige og fik lidt at spise. Onsdag – tid til Pro/Am turneringen Da vi var informeret om, at der kunne komme en del trafik på vejene omkring Gatten og Himmer- land besluttede vi os for at køre tidligt om formiddagen. Vi var først sat på til at skulle gå Pro/Am over middag med start kl. 14.00. Det gjorde at vi havde god til at se mange af spillerne varme op, heriblandt HKH Kronprins Frederik samt Thorbjørn Olesen, Lars Larsen og mange andre. Vi så da kronprinsen ankom inkl. portefølje og i den forbindelse havde arrangørerne samtidig sat et golf trick show op i den anden ende af driving range for at give kronprinsen lidt fred til opvarmningen. Da jeg kendte en del ansigter blandt arrangørerne havde jeg fået besked om kronprinsens ankomst og hans plads på driving range og kunne således stille mig op på den bedste placering og se når kronprinsen ankom. Selv om man har set ham flere gange før var det nu alligevel lidt sjovt, at se ham så tæt på og så afslappet. Og hvis ikke man vidste bedre skulle man tro at golf clinic showet var i begge ender for det var godt nok en nervøs kronprins der gik i gang med at slå skæverter. Det har ladet sig lyde, at han rent faktisk har spillet golf en del gange og skulle være en habil golfspiller omkring hcp 24-26, men efterfølgende udtalte kron- prinsen selv – trods alle hans prøvelser op gennem årene – at han var rigtig nervøs. Efterhånden kom der dog styr på svinget og putt’ne så det begyndte at se fornuftigt ud, men det skal siges at han lignede en helt ny der aldrig havde fået så meget som en lektion før (efter sigen- de har han modtaget en hel del privat lektioner inden turneringen). Så blev det tid og ”konge bolden” som den blev kaldt skulle afsted. Kronprinsen og de 3 undersåtter, ”dyne kongen”, ”golf kongen” og ”motor kongen” skulle afsted fra 1. tee og det blev en sjov oplevelse. Kronprinsen slog et jern ud, lidt i venstre side men ganske fint, Lars Larsen slog en bold godt ud og endte lidt fremme i højre side, Tom Kristensen slog et quick hook og var nær ved at ramme flere tilsku- ere, men alle slap uskadte. Til sidst fyrede Thomas Bjørn et flot slag afsted godt ud i fairway – og så var Made In Denmark skudt i gang for alvor. Der stod mange tilskuere rundt om 1. tee og op langs 1. huls fairway, alle med håbet om at opleve prinsen og kongerne. I 2. starten skulle Thorbjørn Olesen afsted sammen med 3 ukendte direktører fra Nordea, så stort set samtlige tilskuere var væk, da Thorbjørn skulle slå ud. Og her kom vi så ind i billedet, da vi skulle registrere og indberette scores for Thorbjørns hold. Undervejs gik vi og talte lidt med spillerne og fik da også muligheden for at tale med Thorbjørn. Som menneske er Thorbjørn i bund og grund meget stille og rolig og et meget behageligt væsen. Han kan tydeligvis godt lide opmærksomheden men er samtidig og lidt reserveret til tider – oftest kun fordi han jo også koncentrerer sig som golfen, netop fordi det jo er hans levevej. Efter runden signerede Thorbjørn et par bolde til os og han indbød selv til at tage et par billeder, ”hvis vi havde lyst” som han sagde – OG DET HAVDE VI DA BESTEMT. En fantastisk oplevelse med en sublim golfspiller som er helt nede på jorden (som i øvrigt sluttede på 3. pladsen i dagens konkurrence med sit hold – kun på grund af vores dygtige livescoring naturligvis…..). De næste dage skulle den stå på livescoring og carryboard (det ”board” som går bag ved de samme spillere hele runden, så publikum kan følge med i scores). Opgaven går endvidere på at indberette live scores efter hvert hul. Det kan lyde som en simpel opgave men vi gik samtidig med spillerne rundt (som jeg skal hilse og sige går stærkt til tider) og havde walkie-talkie til European Tour score koordinatorerne så vi skulle samtidig undervejs bekræfte scores (hvis f.eks. tv billeder viste andre scores end vores) og var også ansvarlige for at tilkalde hjælp og dommere når det var nødvendigt. Og jeg skal hilse at sige at spillerne i mange forskellige situationer forsøger at få et forbedret leje eller på anden vis gerne vil fremme deres spil, så det skete bestemt nogle gange at vi måtte tilkalde dommere. Om fredagen brød score indberetning systemet i øvrigt sammen og der skulle således indberettes via walkie-talkie fra hvert par som fulgte deres spillere. På et tidspunkt oplevede vi at der var over 40 hold på banen samtidig, hvilket skabte en del kaos når der skulle indberettes scores over radioen – men en sjov oplevelse og alle ”kom hjem”. Cut og finale dage Så kom weekenden og her blev det afsløret hvilke bolde vi skulle ud med. Vi havde fået at vide, at skulle man først ud lørdag så skulle man sidst ud søndag og omvendt. Så da vi fik besked om, at vi skulle ud med de første spillere kl. 6.40 lørdag morgen, vidste vi også samtidig, at vi dermed skulle gå førerbold om søndagen. Når man så har været ude om fredagen (hvor der samtidig var forsinkelser grundet torden og kraftigt regnvejr) i over 6 timer om aftenen, derfra skal ud fra Himmerland resortet sammen med alle andre frivillige og tilskuere, og næste morgen skal så tidligt op for at være klar til den første bold, ja så er man pænt træt. Til gengæld har man viden om, at man skal gå førerbold om søndagen og så gjorde det bare alting lidt lettere i løbet af lørdagen. Da vi gik ud lørdag morgen kl. 6.40 var det med 2 spillere som begge lå i +4 fra de 2 foregående runder og kun lige havde klaret cuttet. Det betød at vi godt nok skulle have de hurtige sko på for de 2 spillere var egentlig meget godt tilfredse med at have klaret cuttet men det var som om de gerne ville hurtigt hjem igen.
