Ezekiel Chapter 45 Ezekiel 45:1 "Moreover, when ye shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, ye shall offer an oblation unto the LORD, a holy portion of the land: the length [shall be] the length of five and twenty thousand [reeds], and the breadth [shall be] ten thousand. This [shall be] holy in all the borders thereof round about." The Promised Land had been divided to the tribes of Israel. They were wonderful record keepers, and they knew where their land was located. Each family had an inheritance of the land of their forefathers. This is a different allotment. The land for the temple was not to be allotted to anyone. This sacred land, set apart at the heart of Palestine, is separate from allotments designated for various tribes, seven to the North and five to the South. Though the whole earth is the Lord’s, this area is meaningful to Him in a special sense, as providing for special purposes which (45:2- 8), goes on to define. This holy rectangle (8.5 miles by 3.3 miles; verses 1-3), corresponds to (48:8-22), which describes this portion as between Judah to the North and Benjamin to the South extending from the Mediterranean East to the eastern border. It is the area for the priestly homes in (verse 4 particularly), but is also for the benefit of all worshipers. Ezekiel 45:2 "Of this there shall be for the sanctuary five hundred [in length], with five hundred [in breadth], square round about; and fifty cubits round about for the suburbs thereof." At the heart of the special allotment is the temple area (48:10), which serves all Israelite tribes, and also is the worship center for those of the whole world, who visit. -

The Presence of God in Ezekiel Sid Latham Introduction: I. The purpose of this paper is to examine the instances of the presence of God in the book of Ezekiel. To some, such a study may seem esoteric and impractical. Nothing could be further from the truth. Everyday decisions occur at the nexus of theology (how we view God) and philosophy (how we view the world). II. When the heavens were opened and Ezekiel saw visions of God, he saw the most practical and real thing anyone could see. (Ezekiel 1:1) We must attempt to see those visions after him and to aid others in doing so. This is not just an important aspect of what we do, it is the whole of what we do. It is the purpose of our existence, not as preachers, but as creatures made in the image of God! III. Because of the constraints of time and format we are going to focus on three passages in Ezekiel. Ezekiel 1-3, 8-11 and 40-48. There are a number of reasons for this: A. These three passages form the broad strokes of the narrative development of Ezekiel’s prophesy: God’s presence arrives among the captives in Babylon. (1-3) God leaves the temple and calls down judgment in Jerusalem. (8-11) God restores His presence in the eschatological temple. (40-48) B.Ezekiel himself links these three passages in the following ways: 1. All three passages are dated. (Ezekiel 1:1; 8:1; 40:1) 2. All three passages include the statement, “the hand of the Lord was on me” or some very similar formulation. -

Introduction to Ezekiel1 © 2007 Andy Woods Introductory Matters2 Authorship Ezekiel is identified as the author two times in the book (1:3; 24:24). The unity of the book seems defensible from various internal indictors. For example, the first person singular is used throughout the book. Also, the style, language, and thematic development are consistent throughout the book. Moreover, the book repeats distinctive phrases. Examples include “they shall know the lord,” “son of man,” “glory of the Lord.” The presupposition of Ezekiel as the author was not challenged until around the 1930’s. Despite this evidence, many today deny the authenticity of the book, instead arguing that someone in Palestine composed it sometime after the return from the exile. However, the arguments used to buttress this position are answerable. In cases of acute tzara’at, the sufferer was banished from the camp for the duration of the illness, often for life. Leviticus 13:45-46 45 "The leprous person who has the disease shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head hang loose, and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, 'Unclean, unclean.' 46 He shall remain unclean as long as he has the disease. He is unclean. He shall live alone. His dwelling shall be outside the camp. (ESV) what else is tazara’t talking about; have you ever given it any thought? What I mean is, most of the time, it is usually connected with the sin of Lashon Hara or gossip or slander. This is a sin against our Creator. Most of us do not give it a second thought, but it is there in the Torah. It is a sin, but we just keep on doing it without giving it a second thought. I am sure we do not believe we are doing anything wrong. Most of the time we think we are doing something good if we share how we feel about someone with others, but then the sin expands outward from being something we keep to ourselves, and we begin to share it with others. -

From chapter 45 to the end of Ezekiel, much of what is recorded (but not all) was intended to be local history 2000 years ago… when Messiah would come the first time: in the first 4 days that Paul describes as shadows of things to come, fulfilled in Christ the Messiah… the timeline: clearly spelled out by Daniel. But only 10% of the House of Judah even cared to return to Jerusalem and roll up their sleeves and rebuild in anticipation of the Messiah; the rest were stuck in Babylon. Now we in the genius 21st century have come to Plan B: The last days: Trumpets, Afflicting souls, and Tents; 3 days still on the Lord’s calendar. Chapter 37 the great awakening of Joseph (led by Ephraim and Manasseh) when they along with Judah become one; until Jesus Messiah returns to rule with a rod of iron. Armageddon: Chapter 38 Gog and Magog against Judah and Manasseh; Chapter 39 Gog and Magog against Ephraim – the battle is over. TRAGICALLY, what we learn here can be called: THE WASTED WORDS OF THE LORD… as the highly-educated seminaries… overpopulated with the braindead, heartless, faithless and clueless dragging along their pet manmade traditions… will be leading the People of God… till they all fall into the ditch together. The details about this now unnecessary Temple that should have happened in all its grand detail, but didn’t… is evidence of God’s faithfulness and longsuffering; when the Chief Cornerstone was rejected --- when MESSIAH came in great humility… they should have worked harder 2000 YEARS AGO… THE WASTED WORDS OF JESUS, THE CHRIST; YESHUA THE MESSIAH. -

Ezekiel Commentary-Daniel Woodhead The Book of Ezekiel INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL August 23, 2015 INTRODUCTION The Old Testament book of the Jewish Prophet Ezekiel is one of the so-called Major Prophets in the Christian Bible because of its length. The other four are Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations and Daniel. The twelve so-called Minor Prophets follow these. They are designated minor due to their length. Therefore all the prophetic books are collected together in the Christian Bible. The Hebrew Bible, which is called the Tenach, arranges the books in a different order and assigns the Book of Ezekiel to third position in the category called the Latter Prophets (Hebrew, Neve’em). The other Later Prophets are Isaiah, Jeremiah and the Twelve Prophets. The Jewish Talmud arranges the sequence of the books of the Latter Prophets to follow a chronological order. Beginning with Jeremiah, which is primarily concerned with the prophecies of Israel’s destruction following the narrative of the books of Kings. Ezekiel, which begins with destruction, ends with the consolation of the Messianic Kingdom. Isaiah follows that and is almost all concerned with prophecies of consolation. The Prophet Ezekiel John Singer Sergeant’s rendition of Ezekiel (12:6) Ezekiel was carried away captive to Babylon at the age of twenty–five— one of 10,000 captives. In the fifth year of his captivity God called the young priest to prophesy to “a rebellious nation, impudent and stubborn.” For more than twenty–five years Ezekiel faithfully carried Jehovah’s message of recompense upon a rebellious house and the restoration of a holy remnant, to a captive nation in a distant and foreign land.
