Please note that an RSVP on social media is not a substitute for registration and payment through the guild website. Class Policies: ● Cancellation Policy: There is no refund on registration fees. While we understand that circumstances may arise that cause your plans to change, we must adhere to a business policy. Because it is impossible for the Atlanta Knitting Guild to favor one individual situation or circumstance over another, we adhere to our policy in all situations and make no exceptions to our cancellation policy. If you are unable to attend a class you may have someone take the class in your place, but the guild will not assist you in finding a replacement. You must email any changes in advance to major [email protected] ● Registered students who miss class will have any handouts provided by the instructor saved for them. No handouts will be given to those not registered. ● If the event is cancelled by the guild, registrants will receive a full refund. Class Location, Directions and Parking for the SEFAA Center: Class Location: SEFAA Center, 3420 W Hospital Ave, Chamblee, GA 30341 Please note that if you are using a GPS, use 3400 W Hospital Ave for the location. When you turn in, the SEFAA Center is straight ahead at the rear. Please don’t park in front of the Nature Almond and Jiardi businesses, especially on Saturday. Parking is limited, so please carpool if you can. Class Schedule: Thursday Guild Meeting: Free for AKG members. Non-members: $15.00 in advance online or cash at the door. Social hour: 6:30-7:30 pm, 7:30 Nicky Epstein’s Presentation and Fashion Show: “Knitting Re-Imagined.” Friday, October 5, 9:00 am–12:00 pm: “The Knit Hat Class” Friday, October 5, 1:30–4:30 pm: “Swing Knitting Made Easy (AKA Kluge Knitting)” (new class) Saturday, October 6, 9:00 am–12:00 pm: “Fantastic French Cord (AKA I-cord)” Saturday, October 6, 1:30–4:30 pm: “Unique Stitches” (new class) Sunday October 7, 9:00 am–12:00 pm: “Edgings, Flowers, Embellishments” Class Descriptions, Homework & Supply Lists: The Knit Hat Class From Nicky’s first book, learn a variety of hat shaping and crown decreases, along with ideas to make any hat special. Students will leave with a finished hat. Class Length: 3 hours Skill level: All levels Students Should Bring: Corresponding yarns and needles for hat finishing. For all classes, students will need scissors, straight pins, tapestry needles, tape measure, completed homework. Homework: Bring a knit piece 5” x 21” (can be knit vertically or horizontally) using stitch pattern and colors of your choice. Leave stitches on needle. Bring corresponding yarns and needles for hat finishing. Swing Knitting Made Easy (AKA Kluge Knitting) (new class) Learn a very unusual knitting technique that originated in Germany by using short rows to create wavelike patterning. In class you may finish a small envelope bag or a hat, or have the beginning of a scarf. Swing knitting can be applied to a variety of garments including shawls; look it up on Ravelry! Class Length: 3 hours Skill level: All levels Students Should Bring: 1 main color (MC) yarn and 3–4 coordinating colors, or one MC and a hand-dyed or multicolor ball of yarn, with corresponding needle size, 4 stitch markers and a tapestry needle. For all classes, students will need scissors, straight pins, tapestry needles, tape measure. Homework: None Fantastic French Cord (AKA I-Cord) French cord, or I-cord, is more than just string! Join Nicky and knit a cord sampler of some of her favorite I-cord stitches. Go beyond plain cord into bobbles, cables, lace, eyelets and more! Nicky will demonstrate making cord frogs, Celtic knots, cables and motifs, as well as how to sew I-cord to make the background. The possibilities are endless! Class Length: 3 hours Skill level: All levels Students Should Bring: Yarn with corresponding double point needles. For all classes, students will need scissors, straight pins, tapestry needles, tape measure, completed homework. Homework: Any size piece of knitting in stockinette stitch to practice sewing I-cord onto piece. Unique Stitches (new class) Learn a variety of unique stitches: loop, scallop, flower stitch, etc. (all tricky and unusual). Class Length: 3 hours Skill level: All levels Students Should Bring: Worsted weight yarns with corresponding needles. This is a good place to use scraps and leftovers! For all classes, students will need scissors, straight pins, tapestry needles, tape measure. Homework: None Edgings, Flowers, Embellishments Learn a variety of Nicky’s favorite edgings like picots, corkscrews and twists, flowers and more, and how to use them for inspiration. If you’ve never taken a class with Nicky, take this one! Class Length: 3 hours Skill: All levels Students Should Bring: Several yarns in a similar gauge, and needles and double point needles of an appropriate size for your yarn. This is a good place to use scraps and leftovers! For all classes, students will need scissors, straight pins, tapestry needles, tape measure.
