Both players seek their 4th ATP Tour singles title of the season. Most Tour-Level Titles in 2019 o Novak Djokovic 4 Matteo Berrettini 2 o Daniil Medvedev 4 Cristian Garin 2 o Rafael Nadal 4 Nick Kyrgios 2 o Dominic Thiem 4 Benoit Paire 2 o Alex de Minaur 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas 2 o Roger Federer 3 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 2 • No. 1-seeded Federer has now reached the Basel final in his last 13 appearances, dating back to 2006 (he did not play the event in 2016). He presently holds a 9-5 win-loss record in Basel finals. • Federer enters the final on a 23-match winning streak at Basel, as he seeks his 10th title at his hometown tournament. Overall, he has compiled a 74-9 record at the Swiss Indoors Basel, with his last loss at the event coming to Juan Martin del Potro in the 2013 final. Roger Federer - Most Titles by Tournament (all are tournament records) o Halle 10 o Basel 9 (10 if he wins final) o Wimbledon 8 o Dubai 8 o Cincinnati 7 • With his semi-final win over Stefanos Tsitsipas on Saturday, Federer hit 50 match-wins in a season for a record 16th time. Here are the players with the most 50-win seasons: Roger Federer 16 Jimmy Connors 14 Ivan Lendl 12 Novak Djokovic 11 (48 wins this season) Stefan Edberg 10 Rafael Nadal 10 (48 wins this season) Guillermo Vilas 10 • De Minaur started the 2019 season 0-2 in ATP Tour singles finals, but claimed his first ATP Tour singles title in his hometown of Sydney in January, the month before his 20th birthday. He has gone undefeated in finals since then, adding trophies at Atlanta and Zhuhai. He also improved to 4-0 in semi-finals this year after overcoming Reilly Opelka in a final-set tiebreak on Saturday. This would be his first ATP Tour singles title at ATP 500-level or higher. • #NextGenATP player De Minaur is attempting to become the first Australian to win at Basel. The only previous Australian finalist at the event is Mark Philippoussis in 1997 (l. to Greg Rusedski). • De Minaur would also become the third wild card to win the title, following Stefan Edberg in 1988 and Michael Stich in 1993. The last wild card to reach the Basel final was Kei Nishikori in 2011 (l. to Federer). • A win over World No. 3 Federer would give de Minaur the biggest win of his career by ranking and his first-ever Top 5 win. De Minaur lost his first 11 matches against Top 10 opposition, but has won his last two: over No. 7 Nishikori in the 2019 US Open third round, and over No. 10 Roberto Bautista Agut in the Zhuhai semi-finals last month.
