(3/7/04) - The Virginia Tech Hokies Record: 16-12 held the #4 Connecticut Huskies to a season-low 48 points, but Home: 7-6 Neutral: 1-1 couldn't muster enough offense to pull off the upset, falling 48-34 in Away: 8-5 Big Ten: 10-6 the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST tournament. Tech’s most successful experience in the NCAAs occurred in 1999 , when the Hokies reached the “Sweet 16.” Tech is 5-1 in first round games and has won five in a row. The Hokies are 4-0 in first round games played on a neutral floor and 1-1 in first round games in Blacksburg. Tech is 5-6 against the 2004 NCAA tourney field defeating Boston College, Liberty, Maryland, Old Dominion and Villanova with losses against Connecticut (twice), Miami, Notre Dame, Rutgers and West Virginia. Twenty Wins Again ☛ The Hokies achieved win number 20 against Pittsburgh marking the seventh straight season, all under Bonnie Henrickson, that Tech has reached the milestone. In fact, reaching the magical 20-win mark has become a common occurrence for the women’s basketball program over the last 12 years.
