Camp Harbor View, located on a1 22-acre plot of land on Long Island in Boston Harbor, was developed by and operates uncleir the auspices of The Camp Harbor View Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation established in March 2007. The foundation is governed by a board of directors comprised of Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, Jack Connors, Jr. and Peter Welsh. The camp is supported entirely by private funding. Camp Harbor View will host two sessions during the summer of 2007, which will last four weeks each, beginning on July 2nd, and July 30th. The camp will operate from 9am - 6pm. There will be 300 campers in each session, :serving a total of 600 children for the summer. The cost to the camper is only $5 per session. The program will focus on four specific areas: Leadership Development, Environmental Education, Sports & Fitness and the Arts. The 22nd annual outdoor performing arts series includes concerts presented with Carrboro-based Cat’s Cradle featuring Old Crow Medicine Show; Triangle-based performers Mipso, Tift Merritt, and Chatham Rabbits; Courtney Barnett, the legendary Chaka Khan, and more. The summer movie lineup includes First Man, The Hate U Give, Roma, and celebrations of the 40th anniversary of Alien and 55th anniversary of Dr. Strangelove. Special movie parties, which feature additional activities, food, and art making before the movie screenings, include Isle of Dogs, Academy Award-winning Bohemian Rhapsody, The Lego Movie 2, and the return of visitor favorite The Dude Abides The Big Lebowski party. This year, one of the movies is a crowdsourced pick from a list of romantic comedy favorites.
