  • Vogler Quartet
Vogler Quartet Tim Vogler, violin Frank Reinecke, violin Stefan Fehlandt, viola Stephan Forck, cello The Grammy-nominated Vogler Quartet celebrated its 30th anniversary during the 2015/2016 season, and, with all four of its original members, continues to build upon its reputation as one of the finest quartets of its generation. Mastering a repertoire of over two hundred works from all periods and musical styles, founding members Tim Vogler, Frank Reinecke, Stefan Fehlandt, and Stephan Forck are widely recognized for their uncommon musical intelligence, homogeneous sound, insightful interpretations, and unconventional programming. They have created a vibrant ensemble spirit, as well as a unique string quartet sound which consistently offers new insights into the genre. Formed in East Berlin in 1985, the quartet continues to pursue an ambitious international schedule of concerts and master classes in prestigious venues around the world. In spring 2012, the Vogler Quartet returned to North America for a special collaboration with cabaret artist Ute Lemper and clarinetist/pianist Stefan Malzew, which not only included highly acclaimed concerts in Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, among many others, but also resulted in a Grammy-nominated recording entitled “Paris Days/Berlin Nights” on the Sony label. This lively collaboration continued into the 2015/2016 season. Highlights of their most recent North American tour included a multi-concert residency at Chamber Music San Francisco and an appearance at Friends of Chamber Music Vancouver, in collaboration with pianist Ian Parker. The 2015/2016 season also featured additional engagements with Mr. Parker in selected venus throughout the Pacific Northwest. The four musicians are as much at home in the musical centers of Europe as they are in America, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and have enjoyed a series of successes in expanding chamber music audiences worldwide.

The Annex I habitat estuaries is a large physiographic feature that may wholly or partly incorporate other Annex I habitats including mudflats and sandflats within its area. Intertidal surveys were undertaken at this site in 2007 and 2010 (ASU, 2007; ASU, 2012) and an intertidal walkover in 2013, a subtidal survey was undertaken in 2010 (Aquafact, 2011). These data were used to determine the physical and biological nature of this SAC and overlapping Special Protection Areas (SPAs) of Drumcliff Bay SPA (site code 4013) and Cummeen Strand SPA (site code 4035). Records of harbour seal in the site have been compiled from historical Wildlife Service site visits and regional surveys (Summers et al., 1980; Warner, 1983; Harrington, 1990; Lyons, 2004). Aspects of the biology and ecology of Annex I habitats and Annex II species are provided in Section 1. Geological history The oldest rocks in the county form a strip of low hills extending along the south side of Lough Gill westwards past Collooney towards the Ox Mountains, with a small patch on Rosses Point north-west of Sligo town. They are schists and gneisses, metamorphosed from 1550 million year old [Ma] sedimentary rocks by the heat and pressure of two episodes of mountain building around 605 Ma and 460 Ma. Somewhat younger rocks, around 600 Ma, form the main massif of the Ox Mountains in the west of the county. They include schists and quartzites, once sedimentary rocks that have been less severely metamorphosed than the older rocks further east. In the far south of the county, around Lough Gara and the Curlew Mountains, are found a great thickness of conglomerates (pebble beds) and sandstones, with some layers rich in volcanic ash and fragments of lava.

  • Tim Vogler, Violin Frank Reinecke, Violin Stefanfehlandt, Viola Stephan Forck, Violoncello
THE VOGLER QUARTET Individuality finding harmonious expression in ensemble – this has to be the quintessence of the Vogler Quartet, an ensemble which can claim the distinction of retaining its original membership since its formation in 1985. With an intelligent approach to the genre of chamber music, a brilliant playing technique, interpretive tactfulness and a vibrant ensemble spirit, Tim Vogler, Frank Reinecke, Stefan Fehlandt and Stephan Forck have created a unique string quartet sound which consistently offers new insights into the genre. This East German ensemble had its beginnings at the Hanns Eisler Musical Academy in Berlin. It became internationally renowned in 1986 only one year after its foundation as the first prize winner of the famous Evian string quartet competition. Eberhard Feltz, György Kurtág and the LaSalle Quartet, notably Walter Levin, subsequently sponsored the quartet and became influential mentors. The ensemble’s extensive repertoire of classical pieces from Haydn to Bartók as well as the Second Viennese School is complemented by both contemporary and less known works like the monumental five-hours quartet by Morton Feldman or a Rihm cycle with the Arditti Quartet on the occasion of Expo 2000. Among the world premieres are compositions by Jörg Widman, Mauricio Kagel, Ian Wilson, Frank Michael Beyer and Sven-Ingo Koch. The Vogler Quartet actively broadens its field by collaborating with renowned artists like Lynn Harrell, James Levine, Bernard Greenhouse, Boris Pergamenschikow and Menahem Pressler and musical partners as David Orlowsky, Daniel Müller-Schott or Ute Lemper. They feel just as comfortable in the European music centers as in North America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
