Weather Outlook for subsequent 2 days from 12th to 14th September 2018 Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over northeast India, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with isolated heavy falls likely over eastern parts of India and fairly widespread over western Himalayan region. Scattered rainfall likely over central India and Tamilnadu and isolated rainfall likely over the the rest of the country except west Rajasthan where dry weather is likely. Salient Advisories As rain/thundershowers likely at most/many places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Bihar during the period, at many places over Odisha on 7th and 9th, over Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal on 7th, 10th & 11th and over Andaman & Nicobar islands on 9th along with heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy falls at isolated places likely over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya on 10th and 11th, heavy to very heavy/heavy rain at isolated places very likely over Nagaland, Manipur,Mizoram & Tripura during the period, over Arunachal Pradesh and Assam & Meghalaya from 7th to 9th September, over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from 8th to 11th September , avoid intercultural operation and application of plant protection measures and fertilizers to the standing crops. Provide adequate drainage in standing crop fields to avoid water stagnation. In the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, provide proper drainage facility in large cardamom, soybean, ginger and turmeric fields. As rain/thundershowers likely at most/many places over Uttarakhand during the period, over East Rajasthan from 7th to 9th, at many places over West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi on 7th and 8th, over Himachal Pradesh on 7th, 10th and 11th, over East Uttar Pradesh on 10th and 11th, along with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places very likely over East Rajasthan on 7th, heavy rain at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Punjab on 7th, over East Rajasthan on 7th and 9th, over Uttarakhand from 8th to 11th, over East Uttar Pradesh on 10th and 11th September, avoid irrigation, intercultural operation and application of plant protection measures and fertilizers to the standing crops. In the upland areas of North Bihar, continue land preparation for sowing of September pigeon pea (Pusa-9 and Sarad varieties). Seed may be treated with Thiram/Capton @ 2.5g/kg of seed. In Rayalaseema, rainfed groundnut is at pegging to pod formation stage. In view of the prevailing dry spell, farmers are advised to provide irrigation with sprinklers or rain guns. Farmers in Kuttanad region of Kerala are advised to drain out the water from flood affected fields (padashekharam) using the high capacity vertical turbine pump at the earliest and apply Lime to reduce 7 acidity. Drain out water from coconut and vegetable fields. As there will be thick deposition of silt at the base of the banana plants, rake the soil followed by earthing up. Ensure aeration and drainage in the banana fields. Remove all the diseased and rotten leaves. In Central Narmada Valley Zone of Madhya Pradesh, for control of attack of girdle beetle in soybean, spray Thiacloprid (21.7% w/w) @ 650 ml/ha or Traizophos 40 E.C. @ 1000 ml/ha after current spells of rain.
