After a controversial draw in Quebec City on December 18, 2011, world light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal (26-1-1, 16 KOs) will face living legend Bernard Hopkins (51-5-2, 32 KOs) again in his fifth title defence. Laval boxer Jean Pascal, who has built up a strong following in Quebec with his unique style, powerful jab and defiant spirit, will be defending his belt against an amazing 46-year-old phenomenon and likely shoo- in for the Boxing Hall of Fame. Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins has sworn not to let this chance to rewrite boxing history slip through his fingers. Jean Pascal will be at the Videotron flagship store at 1192 Sainte-Catherine St. West in Montreal from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. on May 17 to meet his fans and sign autographs. All Jean Pascal fans are invited to come and show their support. ABSTRACT Here we show that the trends in four sports are united by the evolutionary constructal design of all animal loco- motion. The trend is toward greater effi ciency in the falling-forward movement of the body, and this is why the evolution of the throwing motion unites team sports (baseball, hockey) with individual sports (golf, box- ing, running and swimming). Records during the past 100 years indicate that in these sports the trend has been toward bigger and taller bodies, which possess greater speed of falling forward and throwing, greater force, and greater throwing distance. Equipment technology (golf balls, hockey sticks) has evolved in the same direction. In sum, the evolution of sports is in accord with the constructal law, and constitutes a “laboratory” for witness- ing the evolution of biological design in our lifetime.
