TEAM

• Today’s captains were Dominic Douglas, Tyson Lee and Tim Bailey. The three were elected by their teammates as permanent team captains for the 2008 season. • Mississippi State’s 24 points allowed in the fi rst quarter were the most allowed in an opening frame by the Bulldogs since West Virginia scored 28 in the fi rst quarter last season in Morgantown. • State’s 31-0 defi cit at the half was identical to its 31-0 score at West Virginia a year ago. • MSU’s 45-0 defeat was the worst since their 45-0 loss last season at home against LSU, and the worst Egg Bowl defeat since thre Rebels defeated Mississippi State, 48-0, in 1971. • It was also the fi rst time the Maroon and White were held scoreless on the road since Auburn did so in 2005, beating Mississippi State, 28-0. • MSU was held under 100 yards rushing and 100 yards passing for the fi rst time since the Auburn game in 2006.

INDIVIDUAL

• Senior Dominic Douglas fi nished today’s game with 16 tackles, tied a career-high that was set the previous week at home against Arkansas, and extended his -leading total to 116 on the season. • Douglas’ season total is the most by a Bulldogs since Mario Haggan in 2002, when he concluded the season with 119 total tackles. • Douglas became the fi rst Mississippi State player to post four-consecutive double-digit tackle games since T.J. Mawhinney accomplished the feat in the fi rst four games of the 2003 season. • Senior defensive lineman Cortez McCraney recorded his third sack of the season late in the fi rst half. He fi nished the season second on the team (K.J. Wright - 4.0) • Sophomore linebacker Karlin Brown intercepted Ole Miss’ Jevan Sneed in the second quarter, for his second of the season, tying seniors Keith Fitzhugh and Derek Pegues for the season-high.

CAREER UPDATES

• Senior punter Blake McAdams punted 12 times for 444 yards, to extend his MSU and SEC career records for punt attempts to 293 and moved into second all-time in the SEC for punting yardage with 11,562 career punting yards. • Although he did not return a kickoff today, senior return man Derek Pegues fi nishes his career as not only MSU’s, but the SEC’s leader in all-time kickoff return yards with 2,484 yards on 111 returns and fi nished third in the SEC in total kick (both punt and kickoff) return yardage with 3,276.
