Australian Society of Archivists NSW School Archives Special Interest Group Minutes of the 2018 Annual General Meeting Abbotsleigh, Wahroonga 03 April 2019 Meeting opened: 2.10 pm 1. Welcome: Morwenna Dixon welcomed everyone to the meeting, and thanked today’s SIG PD Day host Julie Daly, along with today’s presenters, including Prue Heath and Marguerite Gillezeau for presenting at the last minute. 2. Attendance and apologies: Present: Morwenna Dixon (Chair, Barker College), Susan Mills (Minutes), Margaret Miller (Moriah College), Charlotte McColl (Sydney Grammar School), Alison Doran (Trinity Grammar School), Joanna Mead (Sisters of the Good Samaritan), Donna Stimson (Stella Marist), Prudence Heath (SCEGGS Darlinghurst), Julie Daly (Abbotsleigh), Jenny Pearce (The King’s School), Gabrielle Ritchie (Arden), Kerri Genovese (Hills Grammar), Cathy Hobbs (St Ignatius College Riverview), Domonique Novak d’Hennin (Cranbrook), Marguerite Gillezeau (Ascham and Redlands), Kate Bowman (MacKillop Catholic College), Julie Mason (Knox), Enid O’Carroll (Pymble Ladies College), Anna Brooks (Loreto Kirribilli), Rowena Curtis (Loreto Normanhurst), Elizabeth Watson. Welcome to new members: Gabrielle Ritchie (Arden Anglican School), Donna Stimson (Stella Marist College), Joanna Mead in place of Sister Lea van Haren (Sisters of the Good Samaritan) and Elizabeth Watson. Apologies: Bridget Minatel, Evangeline Galettis, Carol Anderson, Amalta Sahay, Venettia Miller, Juliet Hart, Catriona White, Rosalind Jones, Zachariah Duke, Br William Shaw, Jenny Pluss, Maureen Baker, David Roberts, Heather Muirhead, Nikki Fochesato, Marlene Plummer, Iain Wallace, Debby Cramer, Michelle Blackman. 3. Confirmation of the Minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting held on 22 March 2018 at St Aloysius College: Confirmed by Jenny Pearce, seconded by Julie Daly. 4. Matters arising from the previous Minutes: None. 5. Convenor’s Report: Morwenna distributed the 2017-2018 NSW School Archives SIG Convenor’s Report by email previous to this meeting. Morwenna noted that year reported ends in August 2018, however we hold our AGM the following year. 6. Election of Office Bearers: Jenny Pearce took over Chair of the meeting at this point. Jenny called for nominations for 2018-2019 SIG Office Bearers. David Roberts nominated as Secretary (previous to meeting). Seconded by Margaret Miller. There being no other nominations, David Roberts was elected unopposed as Secretary. Morwenna stepped down as Convenor. Kerri Genovese and Enid O’Carroll accepted nominations as Co-Convenors. There being no other nominations, Kerri Genovese and Enid O’Carroll were elected unopposed as Co-Convenors. Jenny Pearce thanked everyone including new office bearers and stood down as meeting Chair, and Morwenna resumed the Chair. 7. Other business: a. Costing of PD Days: Morwenna noted the increasing difficulty to find speakers who will donate their time to present to us. If we are to have PD Days that are relevant and useful, we may need to look at raising our fees. Our PD days are very good value for money. b. Movements: Caroline Lovell – finished up at Roseville on March 6. Her job was advertised, but have not had any contact with her replacement. Kate Riseley – returning to Shore in Term 2 after her parental leave. She will be returning, at least initially, in a part time capacity. Amalta Sahay – taking maternity leave from Canberra Girls Grammar beginning in May. Bridget Minatel – taking maternity leave from Sydney Grammar. Charlotte will become the main contact there. No news about Kambala School. c. Future Planning: Dates and venues for PD days in 2019 already booked, and now need suggestions for themes: - Term 2 - Tuesday 28 May 2019 at Holy Cross College Ryde. - Term 3 – Tuesday 20 August 2019 at St Joseph’s College. SIG Members suggested writing a school history, centenaries / anniversaries, and caring for silverware. d. Royal Australian Historical Society collecting community stories about the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918-1918. Schools might want to consider contributing. e. Thank you to Susan Mills who has been our Secretary for four years. f. Ascham has a term 4 vacancy. g. Members discussed the difficulty is determining the hourly rate for archivists. Meeting closed 2.30 pm.
