OUR VISION (What We Expect to See) Habakkuk 2:2 To see believers experiencing the fullness of THE BLESSING which includes divine healing, supernatural prosperity, the God kind of love and more; operating skillfully in God’s Word; and well-trained to discern good and evil. OUR MISSION (What We Do) Matthew 28:19 To minister the Word of Faith, by teaching believers who they are in Christ Jesus; taking them from the milk of the Word to the meat, and from religion to reality. Our Foundation Scripture Hebrews 5:12-14 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. STATEMENT OF FAITH • We believe in one God—Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things. • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died and was buried; He was resurrected, ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father and is true God and true man.

No, though in the early 1900s there indeed began a spiritual movement of speaking in tongues that is now global in proportion. Speaking in tongues is definitely a gift for today. However, until the twentieth century, speaking in tongues was a commonly occurring but relatively unpublicized inclusion of New Testament Christianity. Many great Christians including Justin Martyr, Iranaeus, Tertullian, Origen, Augustine, Chrysostom, Luther, Wesley, Finney, Moody, etc., either experienced the gift themselves or attested to it. Prior to 1800, speaking in tongues had been witnessed among the Huguenots, the Camisards, the Quakers, the Shakers, and early Methodists.

  • Revelation 4 & 5: the Vision of the Throne
Revelation 4 & 5: The Vision Of The Throne The Vision of the Throne that we find in Revelation chapters 4-5 is a central and controlling vision of the book of Revelation. What follows are some notes on this vision. We hope this information will be helpful as we engage with these chapters in the upcoming 2 Sundays (March 14 & 21). NOTE: Much of the following information comes from the Faithlife Study Bible, the ESV Study Bible, Bible Gateway and other resources. As you read through these chapters be aware of the following symbols as well as connections to both the Old Testament and 1st-century culture. Rev. 4:1–5:14 Heaven Opened: The Lamb Receives the Scroll. These visions, portraying events to take place after the first-century churches’ struggles, begin with a door standing open in heaven, leading to a vision of God on his throne receiving ceaseless worship, and of the Lamb, who receives from him a mysterious sealed scroll. The throne (4:1) suggests sovereignty and power. Various aspects of the vision in this chapter reflect aspects of Ezekiel’s and Isaiah’s visions of God (Ezekiel 1; Isaiah 6) Imitating Isaiah’s and Ezekiel’s reserve in describing visions of God’s glory (see Isaiah 6:1– 6; Ezekiel 1:26–28), John suggests luminous colors—jasper, carnelian, rainbow, emerald— but avoids precise description of the Almighty’s visible features, perhaps because he knew no language to describe what he saw. The jewels of this book (cf. Revelation 21:19–20) are not meant to be interpreted individually but together signify the splendor and majesty of God.

  • Cessationism, “The Gifts of Healings,” and Divine Healing
TMSJ 14/2 (Fall 2003) 263-286 CESSATIONISM, “THE GIFTS OF HEALINGS,” AND DIVINE HEALING Richard L. Mayhue Senior Vice President and Dean Professor of Theology and Pastoral Ministries The study of divine healing must include the tragic abundance of false teachers with false teachings and false practices, who claim biblical authority, but upon closer examination are clearly not of God. Do “gifts of healings” mentioned in 1 Cor 12:9, 28, 30 still operate today as in NT times? This sign-gift ceased with the close of the NT canon. Does God still heal as He did in both the OT and the NT? An inductive study of the biblical record (including the OT, Gospels, Acts, and NT Epistles) establishes unmistakable characteristics of genuine divine healing. The biblical standards become the measure by which alleged contemporary divine- healing claims should be judged, whether of God or not. Next, God’s ultimate healing promise of salvation in 1 Peter 2:24 deserves attention. In context, the passage speaks of spiritual healing (salvation), not physical healing. Finally, a series of theological observations lead to the practical conclusion that Christians should focus on the spiritual/eternal rather than the physical/temporal. When God does heal today, it will not be through human agency, and it will be characterized as were His healings recorded in Scripture. * * * * * Regarding the idea of cessationism, a recent publication contained this remarkable comment. What is your reaction to it? If you take a new convert, who prior to his conversion knew nothing about the history of Christianity or the New Testament, and you lock him in a room with a Bible for a week, he will come out believing that he is a member of a body that is passionately in love with the Lord Jesus Christ and a body that consistently experiences miracles and works miracles.

  • Comparison Symbolism of Light and Darkness on Mystical Vision Between Kobrāwīyids and Eastern Christianity
ﺳﺎل ﻫﻔﺘﻢ، ﺷﻤﺎره ﭼﻬﺎرم، زﻣﺴﺘﺎن Vol. 7, No. 4, January 2012,pp85-102 1390 Comparison Symbolism of Light and Darkness on Mystical Vision between Kobrāwīyids and Eastern Christianity Seyyed Nader Mohammadzadeh Abstract In this research, ‘vision’ in Kobrāwīyids and Orthodox Christian mysticism is studied comparatively. Most of the mystics of both ways have experienced God as light, but some of them have experienced God in darkness or black light symbol. They asserted God’s incomprehensible presence in the symbol of black light in order to purify God from any similarity. This is a light that causes the vision, but itself is not seen, because of intensity of shining and nearness. Here, I argue that despite both of the ways have many similarities on concept of the vision, Orthodox mystics describe the vision as vision of Trinity, especially vision of Christ, but Kobrāwīyid sufis do not speak of the vision of God, because they believe in the absolute transcendence of God, and describe their vision as degrees of dignity of God (Mahadher) and His manifestations. Keywords: Light, Darkness, Kobrāwīyieh, Orthodox, Vision. Department of Religions and Mysticism, Science & Reaserch Branch, Islamic Azad University, Tehran, Iran. • The Final Vision of Revelation
THE FINAL VISION OF REVELATION Seven times in the book of Revelation God’s judgment is symbolically shown falling on those who oppress and afflict those who are God’s people. 1. You have the judgment symbolized in the opening of the seven seals, in chapter 6 2. The next symbolic judgment is pictured in chapter 11 with the sounding of the seven trumpets. 3. The next is found in the symbol of the great harvest in chapter 14. 4. The fourth symbolic judgment is seen in the pouring out of the seven bowls of wrath in chapter 16 5. The fifth judgment is pictured in the fall of Babylon, chapter 18 6. The sixth judgment is symbolized by the war led by him who sits on a white horse and whose name is The Word of God, which then led to the great supper of the Lord, chapter 19 And that brings us to the 20th chapter where we see the dragon cast into the bottomless pit for a thousand years. Also seven times in the book of Revelation, God symbolizes that He has His eye on His Son’s servants. 1. There is Christ standing in the midst of the seven churches, chapter 1, saying to each one of them, chapters 2 & 3, “I know what you are doing and what you are going through.” 2. There is the symbol of the sealing of the 144,000 in chapter 7. 3. There is the symbol of the temple of God being measured in chapter 11 4. You see the lamb and the 144,000 on Mt.

"From the cowardice that shrinks from new truth, from the laziness that is content with half truths, from the arrogance that thinks it knows all truth, O, God of Truth, deliver us." • The Gift of Tongues a Valley Bible Church Position Paper
The Gift of Tongues A Valley Bible Church Position Paper www.valleybible.net Perhaps the most notable aspect of the charismatic movement is the claim of speaking in tongues. In common charismatic theology, speaking in tongues follows the special filling or baptism of the Holy Spirit. They base this belief on the examples in Acts 2, 10 and 19. They believe that the practice of tongues speaking brings great benefits for the Christian’s spiritual life and vitalizes one’s prayer life. Because so many Christians are unfamiliar with the biblical teaching on the gift of tongues, they are being misled by the charismatic redefinition of tongues. This problem is compounded by a prevailing attitude that our personal experience is an authoritative source of truth, even equal to God’s Word. Often, if a person thinks he has spoken in tongues the discussion is over. In addition, those who question the modern practices among charismatic Christians are considered critical and divisive. Nevertheless, we are compelled to explain and defend the biblical gift of tongues, including its nature, purpose and duration. The gift of tongues is not an ecstatic utterance The typical charismatic view of the gift of tongues is that it is the God given ability to speak in an earthly or heavenly language without prior knowledge of that language. While charismatics usually acknowledge that Acts 2 shows that tongues is an earthly language, many of them believe from 1 Corinthians 13:1 and 1 Corinthians 14 that Paul spoke in a heavenly tongue or ecstatic utterance also. While early Pentecostals of the first half of the twentieth century often viewed tongues speaking as human languages, this over time gave way to a view that all tongues speaking was an ecstatic utterance of an unknown language.

  • At About the Same Time, in 1993, Four People Were Inspired, Each In
A Vision At about the same time, in 1993, four people were inspired, each in different ways and in different places, to build a chapel for travelers of the road and of the spirit. All four of the individuals were Catholic, but only two were previously acquainted. A priest in his early years of priesthood felt God was telling him to build a roadside chapel. A woman, wife and mother, was inspired after a visit to the Cooper Chapel in Arkansas designed by architect Fay Jones. Two architectual partners discovered inspiration “on the job”. Possessed with only the vision and lacking the supplies, talent, and land, the priest prayed for guidance and resources to make the vision a reality. The reality started to emerge when the woman approached him at a reception and proposed that he build a chapel like the one she admired in Arkansas. As if they had tapped the same phone line from God, the two strangers joined to take steps in a bold direction in order to make the chapel a reality in Nebraska. Site imagined on the return trip from Lincoln Cooper Chapel by Fay Jones in Arkansas In the meantime, the architect and landscape architect attended a lecture by Fay Jones in Lincoln, Nebraska. Captivated by the simplicity of the man and his chapels, they were inspired to build a similar chapel in Nebraska. Both fantasized a chapel in the hills along the interstate as they drove back to Omaha. The next week, the architect and priest met through a common friend and discovered the presence of the same divine inspirations.
