Photograph Courtesy Lionel Heap 3 WelcomeWelcome to tothe the April September Edition of ofThrussington Thrussington Life Life All I can say is that I am hugely impressed that the Fun Run went ahead. Despite the awful weather there was a great turnout of competitors and all the marshals to make it happen!! It seems strange that both booked dates coincided with uncharacteristic snow!!More information and pictures further on in the magazine! The appalling weather has also impacted the Thrussington Golf Society but reading Barry’s article does imply that contingency plans were effective!! I couldn't resist adding a comment on last months History Society event, they are all very good but the presentation on Armour was both fascinating, funny and informative, again I have managed to add a couple of photographs, there are no prizes for guessing who has the helmet on !! Ed The Editor Thursday 26th April at 7.45pm Dr Ray Sutton who will talk on the British artists who were connected to the Spanish civil war and Barbara Hepworth’s connection with the village. There was a suggestion from Kevin Newby that we replace our white golf balls with the “pink balls” (if I can use such a term in Thrussington Life ?), that we used a couple of years ago, but even these would have disappeared into the thick snow layer! Such things are sent to try us, so we kept ourselves warm as any sensible golfer would. Our next event is booked for Friday 6th April at Norwood Park near Southwell in Nottinghamshire. Entries are steadily being received, but if anybody else would like to join us, then contact me as below. I realise that this article will not be circulated until the 1st April, but if you fancy joining us, then I am sure I can fit in any late entries. The village was holding its annual ‘litter pick’ and once again, Thrussington’s Parish Council Chairman, Tom Prior, had very kindly invited me to come along and lend a hand. As always, it was great to see so many people sacrificing their own time to keep the village clean and tidy; it really does instil a great sense of pride and, for me, it sums up what true community spirit is all about, and the strength of that sense of community in Thrussington. However, whilst it’s great to see so many people coming together so that villagers and visitors alike can enjoy the local area, it is still a shame that litter picks are needed.

We have been instructed to submit a response to Charnwood Borough Council's (the "Council") consultation on the draft Charnwood Local Plan 2019-36 (the "Draft Plan"). Responses are invited by 16 December, and this response is therefore submitted in time. Our client has serious concerns with the limits to development proposed for Queniborough, and requests that the Draft Plan is amended around the curtilage of Old Hall, to retain the existing limits to development, and to retain the Old Hall within the settlement boundary. The reasons for the requested amendment are set out below. We would note at the outset that our client as landowner was not consulted on the proposals that directly affect their property. This is contrary to guidance in the UK Government's Planning Practice Guidance, which states: "At an early stage in the plan-making process strategic policy-making authorities will need to work alongside infrastructure providers, service delivery organisations, other strategic bodies such as Local Enterprise Partnerships, developers, landowners and site promoters.

  • Street | Queniborough | Leicestershire | LE7 3DB
Main Street | Queniborough | Leicestershire | LE7 3DB Main Street, Queniborough Leicestershire LE7 3DB Queniborough is a truly charming north Leicestershire village which despite its increase in size and population over the years, has retained the feel of a small rural community. Built around a traditional village main street with an array of buildings, many of them ivy clad or having thatched roofs, dating between the 16th and 20th centuries, Queniborough benefits from a highly regarded primary school, a parish church, post office and general store; a news agent, hairdressing salon, and a traditional butcher. Unusually, Queniborough has 2 village public houses sitting side by side and both well known locally for their friendly atmosphere, cuisine and a selection of ales.. St Mary's church lies on the eastern edge of the village. Dating back in part to the 13th century it is thought by many to have the finest spire in the county. 5 Main Street has an impressive 224m 2 of internal floor space on a generous plot with a south facing rear garden, the current asking price therefore represents very good value for money. Requiring modernization and upgrading throughout but enjoying a commanding position in the village, the buyer will have the opportunity to significantly increase the value of this large family home. Convenient for the primary school, parish church, village shops and public houses with additional amenities in nearby Syston, Queniborough also offers excellent road and rail links for the commuter. Built approx 32 years ago by the present owner, we anticipate a high level of interest in this impressive 4/5 bedroom property with 3/4 reception rooms in arguably one of the most sought after parts of the highly desirable north Leicestershire village of Queniborough.

  • Area Forum Consultation Document - June 2007
Charnwood Together Consultation Paper PROPOSALS FOR SETTING UP AREA FORUMS IN CHARNWOOD INTRODUCTION Charnwood Together is inviting comments on proposals to establish “Area Forums” (or “Community Forums”) covering the whole of the Borough of Charnwood. These proposals have been developed in response to decisions of Leicestershire Together, the county level Local Strategic Partnership, to promote the creation of such Forums across the whole County of Leicestershire. Area Forums will contribute to revitalised local democracy and effective community engagement across the Borough by facilitating public engagement with elected representatives. They will provide Forums for local issues to be raised with the appropriate local authority or other agency. It will bring Borough, County and Parish Council elected representatives together with partners to focus on local issues. Leicestershire Together has invited district Local Strategic Partnerships across Leicestershire to develop and implement Forums in ways that best meet local circumstances. To assist this process Leicestershire Together agreed a framework for the creation of these Forums – a Neighbourhood Engagement Policy Statement. That Policy Statement has been considered and adapted by Charnwood Together to form the proposals set out in this consultation document. The proposed Neighbourhood Engagement Policy Statement for Charnwood sets out the rationale which underpins the development of Area Forums. Highlighted below are the key issues relating to the operation of the Area Forums in Charnwood.
