Riding on the success of its pilot season in 2016, Dance USA Dance is taking the global platform to new heights in 2018. With 15 new tour cities, including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Toronto and Dubai, talented dance teams from around the world will compete for the grand prize while promoting a charitable cause. Also, new in season 2, a partnership with Bollyshake, an internet dance community platform that brings dancers from across the globe together to share their talent and interests in various dance styles “Dance USA Dance was created to bring dance lovers from around the world to one big stage and in 2018 we’re excited to kick off season 2,” said Ashwani Kumar, executive producer at Dance USA Dance. “Our vision is to tackle challenging issues by bringing people from around the world to one platform. Where there is dance, there are no differences.” For season 2, DANCE USA DANCE will enlist the help of four celebrities in the dance and entertainment space: • Sarish Khan, the official host of season 2, was Miss Pakistan USA 2015 and is known for her work as an actor, activist and attorney. • Nakul Dev Mahajan, season 2 finale judge, is an American Bollywood choreographer who is best known for his Bollywood choreography on the hit show So You Think You Can Dance. He opened the first Bollywood dance school in India and choreographed the famous Bollywood performance on the hit Netflix show, Fuller House. • Lauren Gottlieb, season 2 finale judge, is an American dancer and actress from Scottsdale, Arizona. She was a contestant on the third season of So You Think You Can Dance and played the lead role in the 2013 Indian dance film ABCD: Any Body Can Dance. • Matt Steffanina, official brand ambassador for Dance USA Dance, is a choreographer, producer and entrepreneur most known for his work with Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Jason Derulo and Snoop Dogg. DCE COURSE PAPER D1 AMERICAN LITERATURE Semester 5 Course Statement This course offers students an opportunity to study the American literary tradition as a tradition which is distinct from and almost a foil to the traditions which had developed in European countries especially in England. A selection of texts for this course therefore highlights some of the key tropes of mainstream America's self-perception such as Virgin Land the New World Democracy Manifest Destiny the Melting-Pot and Multiculturalism. At the same time there are specifically identified texts that draw the attention of students to cultural motifs which have either been erased brutally suppressed or marginalized (the neglected and obscured themes from the self-expression of the subaltern groups within American society) in the mainstream's pursuit of the fabled American Dream. A careful selection of writings by native Americans African Americans as well as texts by women and other sexual minorities of different social denominations seeks to reveal the dark underside of America's progress to modernity and its gradual emergence as the most powerful nation of the world.
