to import the first waterborne delivery of motor vehicle fuel by a private party since the Mexican petroleum industry was nationalized in 1938.

The delivery was received at a newly refurbished terminal in Veracruz owned and operated by Vopak, a Dutch company. Vopak was the first independent company to operate a private waterborne fuel storage terminal in Mexico.

For Eduardo Andrade of Koch Supply & Trading, that delivery was an historic moment.

“This was a very important first step toward bringing more affordable fuel to Mexico,” Andrade said.

“Our vision,” he explained, “is to lower energy costs for the citizens of Mexico by creating new supply routes for transportation fuels. If we succeed, they will have more and better options.”
