Golden Arm: A Probabilistic Study of Dice Control in Craps Donald R. Smith Robert Scott III Abstract This paper calculates how much control a craps shooter must possess on dice outcomes to eliminate the house advantage. A golden arm is someone who has dice control (or a rhythm roller or dice influencer). There are various strategies for dice control in craps. We discuss several possibilities of dice control that would result in several different mathematical models of control. We do not assert whether dice control is possible or not (there is a lack of published evidence). However, after studying casino-legal methods described by dice-control advocates, we can see only one realistic mathematical model that describes the resulting possible dice control, that in which the four faces on a rotating (horizontal) axis are favored. THE BORGATA HOTEL CASINO AND SPA AND THE WATER CLUB, ATLANTIC CITY, NJ BRINGING LAS VEGAS EAST This megaresort was designed and built in two phases in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The hotel casino complex contains 5.7 million square feet of total space, including two 44-story hotel towers totaling 3,300 rooms and 2.2 million square feet of cast-in-place concrete construction. One of the towers is constructed of cast-in-place/post tensioned flat plate concrete, and the other of a special combined cast-in-place and precast concrete system; both feature glass curtain wall façades. The casino entertainment facility is a 1.22 million square foot, four-story, steel frame structure with 175,000 square feet of casino and over 500,000 square feet of retail, dining and spa facilities. The project also includes an eight- level, 1.53 million square foot parking structure with parking for 5,300 cars. 1 Optimal Betting in Casino Blackjack III: Table-Hopping N. RICHARD WERTHAMER New York, USA Abstract The casino blackjack technique usually called back-counting, or wonging, consists of beginning play (“entry”) at a table only after an indicator of favourability exceeds a certain threshold. The back-counter is also advised to leave the table at a threshold of unfavourability, most usually after entry (here termed “exit”) but sometimes also before entry (here termed “departure”). I have analysed these thresholds previously and obtained optimal entry and exit criteria based on maximising the total cash value of the table between successive shuffles, recognizing that only some of its rounds are actually played. Here I extend and complete that investigation to include the value from a second, freshly-shuffled table, played after either departure or exit, until the first table is reshuffled; this extension is here termed “table-hopping”. An optimal departure point arises in table-hopping that does not appear when considering only a single table. Optimal table-hopping offers an important incremental advantage to its practitioner, here quantified for several representative game conditions, sufficient to make attractive several well-camouflaged betting methods. Introduction A blackjack player welcomes any technique by which he can estimate his odds on the next hand, each time he places his bet. If the estimation is unfavourable, he then bets only a minimum amount; if favourable, he bets more than the minimum, depending on the degree of favourability. Such a technique, called “card-counting”, was first developed by Thorp (1962) and subsequently refined by others. In general, card counting involves observing every card as it is dealt. -

Schwartz, Ph.D. “The study of gambling is fascinating, perhaps because it is so easy to relate it to parallels in areas of our everyday lives. But the surface has only been scratched; many questions remain to be satisfactorily answered.” --Preface to Gambling and Society (1976), William R. Eadington, editor The above statement is a sound summary of why those who study gambling do what they do: gambling raises vital questions, many of which still lack definitive answers.And yet, the study of gambling is no longer the terra incognita it once was. The evolution of the International Conferences on Gambling and Risk-Taking is both a sign of the changes in the study of gambling over the past forty years and one of the driving forces behind that change. Started in 1974 as the National Conference on Gambling and Risk-Taking, the conference began as a gathering of academics in a variety of disciplines from around the United States who were interested in the impact of gambling from several points of view, ranging from analyses of mathematical questions about gambling, to the fundamentals of pathological gambling, to understanding business dimensions of gaming enterprises, to broader inquiries into the impact of gambling on society. The First Conference was held at the Sahara Casino in Las Vegas in June of that year in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Western Economics Association.1 This wasn’t the first mainstream academic discussion of gambling (gambling has been the subject of academic study since at least the 16th-century career of Giralamo Cardano), but it was the first dedicated gathering that concentrated specifically on the topic.And, while those who studied gambling in the early 1970s and before were often scoffed at by academics with more traditional research foci, they were greeted with outright hostility by some in the gaming industry. -

MGM Growth Properties MGM Growth Properties LLC and MGM Resorts International Complete Transactions for Acquisition of Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa LAS VEGAS, Aug. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MGM Growth Properties LLC (NYSE: MGP) and MGM Resorts International ("MGM Resorts") (NYSE:MGM) completed the transactions for the acquisition of Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa ("Borgata") following MGM Resorts' purchase of Boyd Gaming's stake in Borgata. MGP acquired Borgata's real property from MGM Resorts and leased back the real property to a subsidiary of MGM Resorts that will operate that property. MGP funded the acquisition of the Borgata real property and refinanced its assumption of $545 million of debt from a subsidiary of MGM Resorts with $260 million of cash on hand, $295 million of borrowings under its senior secured revolving credit facility and the issuance of 27,362,136 operating partnership units to a subsidiary of MGM Resorts. "Our ability to enhance our portfolio with a premier asset like Borgata in such early stages of our company demonstrates our focus on prudent growth and the financial flexibility of our balance sheet," said James Stewart, Chief Executive Officer of MGM Growth Properties. "This transaction brings geographic diversification and increased cash flows to our portfolio while maintaining neutral leverage and resulting in high single digit percentage accretion to AFFO per share." Borgata was added to the existing Master Lease between MGM Resorts and MGP, and the initial rent payment to MGP increased by $100 million. Consistent with the Master Lease terms, 90 percent of this rent will be fixed and contractually grow at 2 percent per year until 2022.
