The site for the work is available. 4. Bidding documents are available in the site https:\\pmgsytenderstn.gov.in 5. Bids can be uploaded up to 3.00PM on 29.04.2013. The bidders should possess digital Signature cards of Class II or III 6. A pre-bid meeting will be held on 08.04.2013 at 11.30 hours in the Office of the Superintending Engineer, National Highways, Madurai circle, Madurai-20 to clarify the issues and to answer questions on any matter that may be raised at the stage as stated in Clause 9.2 of “Instruction to Bidders” of the bidding document. 7. The Original, Earnest Money Deposit and cost of bid document should be submitted to the Superintending Engineer (NH), Madurai office before 3.00 PM of 29.04.2013, failing which the bid shall be summarily rejected. The original / attested technical bid documents should also be submitted before 3.00p.m. of 29.04.2013 8. Bids will be opened at 3.15PM on 29.04.2013 in the office of Superintending Engineer, National Highways, Madurai. If the office happens to be closed on the date of opening of the bids as specified, the bids will be opened on the next working day at the same time and venue. 7. Bids online must be accompanied by the scanned copy of earnest money deposit and cost of bid documents of the amount specified for the work in the table. The Earnest Money should be in the form of FDR or any form specified in the bid document in favour of Divisional Engineer (National Highways) Sivagangai valid for six months after the last date of submission of bids. 8. The bid for the work shall remain open for acceptance for a period of ninety days from the date of opening of bids. If any bidder/ tenderer withdraws his bid/ tender before the said period or makes any modifications in the terms and conditions of the bid, the said earnest money shall stand forfeited. 9. A bidder shall not be permitted to bid for works in the Circle responsible for award and execution of contracts in which his or his spouse’s near relative (defined as first blood relations, and their spouses) is posted as Divisional Accountant or as an officer in any capacity between the grades of Superintending Engineer and Assistant Engineer (both inclusive). 10. No Engineer of gazetted rank or other Gazetted officer employed in Engineering or Administrative duties in an Engineering Department of the State Government is allowed to work as a Contractor for a period of two years after his retirement from Government service, without Government permission.

    12/8/2018 Home TamilNadu Map Sivagangai District Profile Print SIVAGANGAI DISTRICT PROFILE • Sivaganga district is bounded by Pudukkottai district in the Northeast, Ramanathapuram district in the East, Virudhunagar district in the Southwest, and Madurai in the West. • The District is located between 09º 30'N to 10º 25'N Latitude, and 78º 07'E to 79º 01’E Longitude and has an areal extent of 4143 sq.km. • There are 12 Blocks, 445 Villages and 3352 Habitations in the District. ABSTRACT: Karaikudi is a municipal town located in Sivaganga district of the state of Tamil Nadu. The place is the most famous in the entire municipality because it is also the largest town in the district. It is part of the Chettinad region that includes a total of 75 villages. The town is on the highway that connects Trichy and Rameshwaram. It is a well-known town in this southern state of India mainly because of the style of houses that is unique to the place. The houses in this town are constructed using the limestone that is called "karai veedu" in local language. Some people also believe that the town got its name from the plant of karai, which is found in abundance in the place. Karaikudi was earlier counted in the Ramanathapuram district and achieved the status of a municipality in 1928. Chettiars And Karaikudi It is a well-known fact that the family of Chettiars was instrumental in developing the town of Karaikudi. They have helped shape the town and brought it into prominence by building educational institutes, funding banks, constructing temples and celebrating festivals in the traditional ways. They have also taken upon them the onus of bringing social reforms. To make Karaikudi self-sufficient in every way, Vallal Alagappar, who belonged to the Chettiar family, established the Alagappa University in the place and this university has a good nationwide ranking.

The demand of water is increasing day by day. So, groundwater resources play a vital role for additional demand by farmers and Industries and domestic usage leads to rapid development of groundwater. About 63% of available groundwater resources are now being used. However, the development is not uniform all over the State, and in certain districts of Tamil Nadu, intensive groundwater development had led to declining water levels, increasing trend of Over Exploited and Critical Firkas, saline water intrusion, etc. ADMINISTRATIVE SET UP The geographical extent of Sivagangai District is 4, 18,900 hectares or 4,189 sq.km. Accounting for 3.22% of the geographical area of Tamilnadu State. The district has well laidout roads and railway lines connecting all major towns within and outside the State for administrative purpose. For administrative purpose , the district has been divided into 6 Taluks, 12 Blocks and 38 Firkas.
