The Bishops Hull Family History Group group holds monthly meetings at the Frank Bond Centre and is one of the many activities organised by the centre. In 2013 Bishops Hull Parish Council awarded a grant to the Family History Group with a view to research those names that appear on the War Memorial, to recognise the sacrifice of the men associated with Bishops Hull. It must be remembered that at the time of the First World War Bishops Hull covered a larger geographical area than the present Parish. It included parts of the present Galmington, and Comeytrowe, Rumwell and extended into Taunton as far as Castle Street, Tangier. The County Gazette reported that the War Memorial was unveiled and dedicated on Sunday 6th.November 1921, from this report it is clear that there were 34 names engraved on the monument when it was first erected. In “My memories of Bishops Hull”, published in February 2001, Christine Quartly recalls that the names of the fallen in the First World War had become so eroded on the memorial that in 1993 a new plaque was dedicated. This bronze plaque lists 29 names. The research has proved that not only were names omitted from this 1993 plaque but other errors have been made, we have highlighted these in our findings.

The proposal would therefore be contrary to policies DM2, DM4 and CP8 of the Core Strategy and Policy D7 of the Site Allocations and Development Management Plan. Recommended Conditions (if applicable) Notes to Applicant 1. It should be noted that the protection afforded to species under UK and EU legislation is irrespective of the planning system and the developer should ensure that any activity they undertake on the application site (regardless of the need for planning consent) must comply with the appropriate wildlife legislation. 2. In accordance with paragraph 38 of the National Planning Policy Framework the Council has worked in a positive and pro-active way with the applicant and has looked for solutions to enable the grant of planning permission. The nresent electoral arrangements for the Borough of Taunton Deane date from 3 Way 1979 when the Taunton Deane (Electoral Arrangements) Order 1976, giving effect to the proposals contained in our Report No. 111, came into force. 2. In July 1978 Taunton Deane Borough Council commenced a review of the parish pattern of the whole of their district. They submitted their review reoort to us on 12 February 19#1, which recommended (i) alterations to the boundaries of 28 parishes (ii) the constitution of a new. parish of Comeytrowe and (iit) a number of changes to district and county electoral arrangements consequent upon the provisions of recommendations (i) and (ii). 3- We were satisfied that the recommendations affecting the parish pattern of the borough were in the interest, of effective and convenient local government. However, we were concerned about the standard of representation which would have resulted from the recommendations for consequential changes to the borough.and county electoral arrangements, in particular those affecting .the former.

    Seven Sowers Benefice Profile 2020 sevensowers.org.uk Putting mission and evangelism at the heart of all that we do Welcome to the Seven Sowers Benefice Profile We offer a warm welcome from the church wardens and parishioners of the Benefice. The seven rural parishes that comprise the Benefice are set in a wonderful part of Somerset, just south of Taunton. Here we set out a description of our vision, which we hope will form a good basis in helping you discern if God is calling you to serve Him in the Seven Sowers Benefice. Clearly the pandemic has had and will have an impact on church as a whole. As our Archdeacon, Simon Hill, observed, the Benefice has a number of very committed people who have endeavoured to witness effectively through this time, where the emphasis has been that the church is open, even if the buildings are closed. It is clear that this Benefice will need someone who is able to take forward what has been learned during this time, is flexible in their approach and is able to harness the gifts of people in the parishes in the spirit of Setting God’s People Free: the profile needs to be read in the light of this. We will be looking for someone who is going to be able to address positively the issues the churches in this Benefice, like all churches, are going to have to face in the immediate future. The Profile which follows sets out how we see ourselves (and how others see us) in normal time.
