The distribution of these areas across the County Borough is shown on Plan 1. 3. The Special Landscape Areas define areas of high landscape importance within the Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Area, outside the Brecon Beacons National Park (BBNP) which is a nationally designated landscape and International Dark Sky Reserve.
