Wirral A C Newsletter No 195 Dec 2012 Editor: L J Carroll Happy Christmas To All Our Readers Senior Men Hang on at the Christleton Borders League n the third round of the Borders League at Christeton, despite the absence of several key runners resulting in I fourth place on the day, the Seniors maintained top spot in Division 1, established since the last Newsletter by a resounding win in the second round at Capenhurst. Deeside, with four in the first ten, were runaway win- ners, but a disastrous race at Capenhurst where their last counter was 233rd means they still languish in 5th place over 700 points behind us. We were just nicked by 5 points by our nearest rivals and defending champi- ons, Wallasey, who remain second, but coming up on the rails are Chester Tri who closed the gap on the pair of us, thanks to four in the first twenty. Jordan Donnelly on a rare trip home from distant lands – anywhere south or east of Watford – led the team home in 7th place, supported by regulars Joe Johnson (20th) and Mark Hulmston (21st). Steve Laker (32nd) and Keiran Morgan (44th) followed with the remaining five counters between 60 and 72 including Vice Cap- tain, Simon Fox, two new members, Terry Roberts and Richard Davies, and two members of long standing Brian Beecroft and Martin Quinn.
